Schuemann is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Mariners. Schuemann has slashed .141/.191/.188 with three runs scored and three RBI over 68 plate appearances since Sept. 1. Darell Hernaiz will start at third base Friday and bat ninth.

  • Athletics' Max Schuemann: Sitting Tuesday

Schuemann isn't in the Athletics' lineup Tuesday versus the Rangers. Schuemann will get a chance to regroup Tuesday after going 0-for-10 with three strikeouts across his last four games. Darell Hernaiz will fill the opening at third base and bat ninth while Schuemann rests.

  • Athletics' Max Schuemann: Day off versus lefty

Schuemann isn't in Oakland's lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees. Southpaw Carlos Rodon will toe the slab for New York on Saturday, meaning the left-handed bat of Schuemann won't be part of Oakland's starting nine. Nick Allen will replace him at the hot corner while batting ninth.

  • Athletics' Max Schuemann: Getting day off

Schuemann is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Cubs. Schuemann manned third base for the Athletics in each of the previous five games, but he will begin Wednesday's contest on the bench. Nick Allen will handle the hot corner and bat ninth.

  • Athletics' Max Schuemann: Not in Oakland lineup

Schuemann is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in Houston. Schuemann started both of the first two games of the series and reached base four times, but he'll get a breather for Thursday's matinee. Nick Allen will cover third base and bat ninth for the Athletics.

  • Athletics' Max Schuemann: Two steals, two runs in win

Schuemann went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, two stolen bases and two runs scored in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Astros. Schuemann has posted just four multi-hit efforts since the start of August, batting a meager .162 (17-for-105) in that span. While the rookie hasn't played particularly well of late, Wednesday's performance was an exception -- he avoided striking out for the first time in eight games. Schuemann is now at a .224/.315/.315 slash line with 14 steals, seven home runs, 34 RBI, 52 runs scored and 12 doubles over 121 contests. The A's don't exactly have a ton of exciting alternatives, so Schuemann is likely to continue seeing steady playing time at third base down the stretch.

  • Athletics' Max Schuemann: Not starting Saturday

Schuemann isn't in Oakland's lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers. Schuemann will take a seat Saturday after going 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in Friday's series opener. His absence will move Tristan Gray to third base while Seth Brown covers first, allowing Daz Cameron to pick up a start in left field.

  • Athletics' Max Schuemann: Rings up 12th steal in win

Schuemann went 0-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch, a stolen base and a run in a win over the Rangers on Friday. The rookie recorded his 12th steal of the campaign after getting plunked in the ninth inning, and he subsequently came around to score on Lawrence Butler's double. Schuemann drew another start at third base while Jacob Wilson filled in at shortstop Friday, and the first-year duo looks poised to remain in that arrangement on most days down the stretch.

  • Athletics' Max Schuemann: Homer, three hits in win

Schuemann went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double in Tuesday's win over the Reds. Schuemann homered to give the Athletics a 2-1 lead in the seventh inning and fell a triple shy of the cycle in his first multi-hit game since Aug. 2. It was a much-needed boost for the 27-year-old, as he entered Tuesday in a 2-for-32 slump over his previous 10 games. On the season, he is hitting .233 with seven home runs, 30 RBI, 48 runs scored and 11 steals across 371 plate appearances.

  • Athletics' Max Schuemann: On base three times Sunday

Schuemann went 0-for-1 with three walks and a run in a win over the Blue Jays on Sunday. The rookie displayed impressive plate discipline out of the bottom of the order, pushing his season on-base percentage to .344 with his first multi-walk tally since July 25. Schuemann has now reached safely in six straight starts, a stretch where he boasts a .450 OBP across 20 plate appearances.

  • Athletics' Max Schuemann: Drives in two Monday

Schuemann went 1-for-4 with a two-run single in a win over the White Sox on Monday. The rookie snapped a 1-1 tie in the fourth with his single, which brought home JJ Bleday and Zack Gelof to give the Athletics a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Prior to Monday, Schuemann had gone 11 games without an RBI, a stretch during which he'd hit just .200 overall and a miserable .077 with runners on base. Despite those forgettable numbers, Schuemann may be in the early stages of a resurgence, now having hit safely in three of his past four games.

  • Athletics' Max Schuemann: Another stolen base Sunday

Schuemann went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the Angels. Schuemann went hitless for a second straight day but was able to swipe base No. 11 when he reached with a walk in the fourth. If he had enough plate appearances to qualify, Schuemann would lead the A's in walk rate at 11.7 percent, as he's shown an exceptionally patient eye at the plate as a rookie. The 27-year-old is slashing .256/.346/.364 with six homers, 26 RBI, 45 runs and a 33:76 BB:K in 292 plate appearances.

  • Athletics' Max Schuemann: Reaches double-digit steals

Schuemann went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run in a win over the Angels on Thursday. Several other teammates delivered bigger hits, but Schuemann was productive from the bottom of the order. The rookie now has authored five multi-hit efforts in the last 12 games, and he's reached safely in 11 of those contests on his way to a blistering .400 batting average and 1.003 OPS over his last 46 plate appearances.

  • Athletics' Max Schuemann: Excellent in blowout win

Schuemann went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, four total RBI and three runs scored in Friday's 13-3 win over the Angels. Schuemann got the start at third base rather than shortstop, but he was quickly moved back to his most common position after Jacob Wilson suffered a hamstring strain early in the game. It appeared Wilson's promotion from Triple-A Las Vegas would have a ripple effect on the Athletics' infield, but if the injury lands him on the IL, Schuemann would figure to once again have a clear path to an everyday role at shortstop. For the season, Schuemann is slashing .255/.345/.373 with six home runs, eight doubles, 24 RBI, 39 runs scored and nine stolen bases over 75 contests, though he's been sharper lately, hitting .390 (16-for-41) in July.

  • Athletics' Max Schuemann: Strong finish to first half

Schuemann went 2-for-4 with a walk and three runs in a win over the Phillies on Sunday. He was also caught stealing on his only attempt. The rookie's productive line looks deceptively tame next to those of some of his teammates, considering three Athletics players slugged multiple home runs and Zack Gelof belted a grand slam. However, Schuemann was a very effective table-setting presence out of the bottom of the order, crossing the plate on each of Lawrence Butler's trio of homers. The All-Star break arguably comes at an inopportune time for Schuemann, who heads into the pause in play hitting .357 (10-for-28) over his last eight games while mustering a trio of multi-hit efforts in that span.

  • Athletics' Max Schuemann: Stays hot in Wednesday's win

Schuemann went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs in a win over the Red Sox on Wednesday. Schuemann made plenty of noise out of the bottom of the order, generating one of two multi-hit efforts for the Athletics on the night while recording a steal for the second straight game. The rookie shortstop also has an eight-game on-base streak, and he's now posted multi-hit tallies twice in the last four contests.

  • Athletics' Max Schuemann: Belts three-run homer

Schuemann went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, an additional run and a walk in Saturday's 19-8 rout of Baltimore. Schuemann mashed Oakland's second three-run homer of the game in the second inning to give the A's an early 6-0 lead. It was his second long ball over his past four contests following a 27-game stretch in which he failed to go deep. Schuemann's multi-hit performance Saturday was his first since June 1, a span of 27 games.

  • Athletics' Max Schuemann: Swipes seventh base Friday

Schuemann went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in a loss to the Orioles on Friday. The Athletics strung together three singles as part of their five hits on the night, and Schuemann was able to parlay his one knock into his seventh stolen base of the season. The rookie has reached safely in seven of his last eight games, including four straight, a stretch that's resulted in a slight boost for his .229/.321/.330 slash line across the board and includes three of his steals for the campaign.

  • Athletics' Max Schuemann: Reaches three times in win

Schuemann went 0-for-2 with three walks and a run in a win over the Royals on Wednesday. Schuemann's busy night on the basepaths surprisingly led to only one run, but it did push his OBP back up to an improving .318. The rookie has hit safely in three of the last four games, and his walk rate has now hit double digits (10.1 percent) after also sitting at that threshold in each of the last six minor-league stops before his promotion.

  • Athletics' Max Schuemann: Records fourth steal in loss

Schuemann went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in a loss to the Blue Jays on Saturday. The Athletics fell victim to Kevin Gausman's first career shutout and went down on strikes 10 times against the veteran right-hander, so Schuemann's performance is one that passes for a successful one in that context. The rookie now has singles in back-to-back games and is enjoying a solid June thus far, producing a .348 average and .766 OPS across his first 24 plate appearances of the month (seven games).
