  • Pirates' Evan Sisk: Returns from IL

    Pittsburgh reinstated Sisk (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday. Sisk was on the shelf for about a month due to left elbow inflammation before getting the green light to rejoin the Pirates after making two rehab appearances at Triple-A Indianapolis last weekend. The Pirates optioned right-hander Wilber Dotel to Triple-A to make room on the active roster for Sisk, who owns a 2.23 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 43:13 K:BB over 36.1 innings with Pittsburgh this season.

    Sisk (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports. Sisk has been shelved for the past month with left elbow inflammation, but he's progressed enough to pitch in games again. The southpaw reliever was terrific out of the Pirates bullpen before getting hurt, collecting a 2.23 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 43:13 K:BB in 36.1 innings.

    Sisk was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday with left elbow inflammation, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. The 29-year-old southpaw has a 2.23 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 43 strikeouts in 36.1 innings out of the Pirates' bullpen this year. Hunter Stratton was recalled from Triple-A to take Sisk's place in the bullpen.

    Sisk threw a perfect inning with one strikeout in a 7-0 win over St. Louis on Wednesday. The 29-year-old entered in the seventh inning and struck out Nathan Church en route to his eight scoreless showing in the last nine appearances. Sisk has recorded a 1.71 ERA through his first 21 innings this season, though he's primarily been limited to middle relief thus far while picking up two holds and no saves.

    The Pirates optioned Sisk to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday. Sisk walked six but allowed just two runs on three hits with seven strikeouts over six innings during spring training, but it wasn't enough to earn a spot on the Opening Day roster. The left-hander had a 3.57 ERA and 25:10 K:BB across 17.2 frames in the majors last year and should receive a look with the Pirates at some point this season.

  • Pirates' Evan Sisk: Returns to Pittsburgh

    The Pirates recalled Sisk from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday. Sisk was optioned to the minors last Wednesday, but he'll now return to the big leagues to replace Kyle Nicolas, who went on the bereavement list Friday. Sisk has appeared in nine MLB games this season between the Royals and Pirates, giving up four earned runs while striking out 15 batters and walking six over 8.2 innings.

  • Pirates' Evan Sisk: Sent back to Indianapolis

    The Pirates optioned Sisk to Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday. Acquired from the Royals at the trade deadline, Sisk initially reported to Indianapolis before the Pirates recalled him last Friday. The team wasted no time putting Sisk to work, as he made relief appearances four of the past five days and was charged with three earned runs on three hits and one walk while striking out four across 3.1 innings. He'll head back to the minors and give up his spot on the 26-man active roster to Johan Oviedo, who was recalled ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday versus the Blue Jays.

  • Pirates' Evan Sisk: Set for Pirates debut

    The Pirates recalled Sisk from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports. Sisk was acquired from Kansas City on July 31. He'll be making his Pirates debut when he gets into a game. Sisk had posted a 3.77 ERA in 28.2 innings with the Royals' Triple-A affiliate in Omaha, but he's surrendered six runs in 5.1 innings so far with Indianapolis.

    The Royals recalled Sisk from Triple-A Omaha on Sunday. Sisk will make his MLB debut if/when he gets into a game with the Royals. Kansas City added the lefty reliever to its 40-man roster over the winter after he submitted a 1.56 ERA and 1.03 WHIP while striking out 81 batters in 57.2 innings with Omaha in 2024. He had gotten off to a nice start with Omaha this season, having yet to allow a run while striking out four over 4.2 innings.

    Sisk is dealing with an illness that has been going around the Royals' clubhouse, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports. Sisk was originally expected to pitch in the Royals' Cactus League game versus the Rangers on Friday, but his illness kept him out of action. The 27-year-old southpaw was added to the 40-man roster in November after posting a 1.56 ERA and 1.03 WHIP across 57.2 innings at Triple-A Omaha, and he'll make his spring debut once he's feeling better.
