  • Twins' Josh Winder: Up with big club

The Twins recalled Winder from Triple-A St. Paul on Monday. Winder will take Steven Okert's spot in the big-league bullpen for an undetermined amount of time as Okert tends to personal issues. Winder has made only one appearance with Minnesota this season, allowing three runs across two innings. The 27-year-old hasn't fared much better with St. Paul, posting a 6.35 ERA in 34.0 innings.

  • Twins' Josh Winder: Optioned to Triple-A

Winder was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul after Sunday's 3-2 win over the Astros, Audra Martin of Bally Sports North reports. Winder was called up Friday and appeared in the team's 13-12 loss to Houston, pitching two innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits while striking out two batters. The right-hander will now have to wait for his next chance to join the major-league roster while the vacancy he leaves behind with the big-league club is expected to be filled by Chris Paddack (arm).

  • Twins' Josh Winder: Added to bullpen

The Twins recalled Winder from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday. Winder has spent all of this season in the minors after recovering from a shoulder issue, having posted a 4.78 ERA and 28:8 K:BB over 26.1 innings with St. Paul. He will give the Twins a bullpen arm capable of going multiple innings.

  • Twins' Josh Winder: Activated and optioned

The Twins activated Winder (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Monday and optioned him to Triple-A St. Paul, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Winder has been out all season with a scapular stress fracture in his right shoulder, an injury which was first discovered last October. He posted a 6.39 ERA in 12.2 rehab innings, although that came with a 17:4 K:BB. Winder should get another shot with the Twins later this season, but for now he'll try to sharpen things up at St. Paul.

  • Twins' Josh Winder: Rehab moved to St. Paul

Winder (shoulder) is continuing his rehab assignment at Triple-A St. Paul, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reported Tuesday. Winder's rehab stint began with Low-A Fort Myers on April 30, and despite allowing four runs in 3.2 innings, he'll move up to St. Paul to continue his recovery. Even though he's set to return in late May or early June, Winder isn't guaranteed a big-league roster spot, so he'll likely need to make a strong case during his time at Triple-A to improve his chances.

  • Twins' Josh Winder: Starting rehab assignment

Winder (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Low-A Fort Myers on Tuesday, team broadcaster John Vittas reports. Winder is on the Twins' 60-day injured list due to a scapular stress fracture in his right shoulder which he suffered late last season. He will be eligible for activation in late May, but he isn't necessarily a given to be added to the major-league roster once he's deemed ready.

  • Twins' Josh Winder: Placed on 60-day IL

The Twins placed Winder (shoulder) on the 60-day injured list on Monday. Winder's move to the IL is in correspondence with the Twins acquiring outfielder Manuel Margot, infielder Rayne Doncon and cash considerations from the Dodgers in exchange for Noah Miller. Winder has been slowly building his way back from a right scapula stress fracture he sustained late in 2023, and he will now be forced to sit out for the first portion of 2024. Before his injury last season, Winder appeared in 19 games in the majors and posted a 2-1 record with a 4.15 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 28:14 K:BB.

  • Twins' Josh Winder: Building up slowly in camp

Winder is behind the Twins' other pitchers for the start of spring training while he builds back up from a right scapula stress fracture he suffered late in the 2023 season, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. Winder wasn't placed on the injured list at any point due to the stress fracture, which wasn't detected until he underwent an MRI in October, per Park. After taking some extra time to rest up during the offseason, Winder seems to have moved past the injury, but he was still limited to playing catch from 90 feet at Wednesday's workout while most other Twins relievers threw bullpen or live sessions.

Winder tossed three perfect frames and earned a save over Cleveland on Monday. He struck out one batter. Winder needed just 24 pitches to cruise through his three scoreless innings Monday. Over his last two appearances, he's fired six shutout frames, lowering his season ERA to 4.26 through 25.1 innings. • Twins' Josh Winder: Dispatched to Triple-A

The Twins optioned Winder to Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Winder will cede his spot in the Minnesota bullpen to Cole Sands (shoulder), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. After getting a call-up from St. Paul on June 25, Winder didn't see any work in relief during his latest stint with the big club.

  • Twins' Josh Winder: Optioned to Triple-A

Winder was optioned Saturday to Triple-A St. Paul. Winder gave up a run over two innings in Friday's loss to Detroit. He'll likely return at some point this summer to work in a long-relief role. • Twins' Josh Winder: Shifts rehab to Triple-A

Winder (shoulder) made the fourth appearance of his rehab assignment Wednesday with Triple-A St. Paul, covering 1.1 innings while allowing two runs on one hit and two walks while striking out one. Winder, who has been on the 15-day injured list all season with a sore right shoulder, made his first three appearances at Single-A Fort Myers before jumping to Triple-A. The right-hander will presumably stick with St. Paul through at least the weekend before the Twins determine whether he's fit to return from the IL. Thus far during his rehab assignment, Winder has worked out of the bullpen each time out while working between one and two frames, so the Twins appear to be preparing for him to fill a multi-inning relief role. The 26-year-old previously made 11 of his 15 appearances with the big club in 2022 as a starter, but the Twins' rotation depth appears to be in a much better spot this season.

  • Twins' Josh Winder: Beginning rehab assignment

Winder (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Fort Myers on Friday, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports. Winder began spring training with soreness in his right shoulder, but was able to throw 2.2 innings toward the end of camp. It's unclear how many rehab outings the 26-year-old righty will play in the minors before rejoining the Twins, but his time on the 15-day IL seems to be coming to an end relatively soon.

  • Twins' Josh Winder: Throws in camp game

Winder (shoulder) threw 43 pitches over 2.2 innings Tuesday in Twins camp, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. Twins president Derek Falvey told reporters Wednesday that Winder got up to 94 mph with his fastball but then added the 26-year-old right-hander will not be stretched out into a full starter's workload in order to protect his ailing shoulder. Consequently, it sounds like Winder is going to be deployed as a long reliever whenever he's deemed fit for live competition.

  • Twins' Josh Winder: Not ready for regular season

Winder (shoulder) is not expected to be ready for the start of the season, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. Winder is working his way back from right shoulder soreness this spring. He's thrown batting practice, so he may not be far from being ready. However, he may begin the season at Triple-A.

  • Twins' Josh Winder: Throws live batting practice

Winder (shoulder) threw live batting practice Tuesday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. It's the first time he's faced hitters this spring as he works his way back from some right shoulder soreness. Winder doesn't have enough time to get stretched back out to start before Opening Day, but that could actually work to his benefit with the Twins looking to carry a long reliever.
