  • Blue Jays' Shawn Ross: Claimed off waivers by Toronto

The Blue Jays claimed Ross off waivers from the Mets on Saturday and optioned him to Triple-A Buffalo.

Ross will join the Blue Jays organization after being designated for assignment by the Mets on Thursday. He is slashing .184/.333/.418 with three steals, 11 home runs and 29 RBI across 245 plate appearances in the minors this season, with the vast majority of his playing time taking place in Triple-A.

  • Mets' Shawn Ross: Pushed off 40-man

The Mets designated Ross for assignment Thursday.

Ross has remained at Triple-A Syracuse since the Mets claimed him off waivers from Pittsburgh in August, and he's slashed .195/.365/.366 with a homer, four RBI and six runs scored in 52 plate appearances. He'll now give up his place on the 40-man roster for Cameron Weston, who was claimed off waivers from Baltimore.

  • Mets' Shawn Ross: Finds opportunity in New York

The Mets claimed Ross off waivers from the Pirates on Sunday and optioned him to Triple-A Syracuse.

New York designated right-handed reliever Joey Gerber for assignment to open up a spot on the 40-man roster for Ross. The 26-year-old backstop made his MLB debut with the Pirates earlier this month and went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run over two games, but he's otherwise split time between the Triple-A and Double-A levels in 2026. He'll bolster the Mets' catching depth but will likely be the fourth man on the organizational depth chart behind Francisco Alvarez, Luis Torrens and Hayden Senger.

  • Pirates' Shawn Ross: DFA'd by Pittsburgh

The Pirates designated Ross for assignment Monday.

Pittsburgh initially optioned Ross to Triple-A Indianapolis to make room on the active roster for Endy Rodriguez's (glute) return from the injured list, but Ross will now give up his spot on the 40-man roster after the Pirates acquired outfielder Johnathan Rodriguez via trade. Ross is likely to clear waivers and will likely head back to Indianapolis when he does.

  • Pirates' Shawn Ross: Sent back to Triple-A

The Pirates optioned Ross to Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday, Danny Demilio of PittsburghBaseballNow.com reports.

After receiving his first big-league call-up Friday when Rafael Flores (concussion) landed on the 7-day injured list, Ross will head back to Triple-A three days later with Pittsburgh getting another catcher in Endy Rodriguez (glute) back from the 10-day IL. Ross was able to make an impact at the dish in his short time in the majors, going 1-for-5 with a two-run home run over two games.
