  • Yankees' Ryan Weathers: Traded to Yankees

The Marlins traded Weathers to the Yankees on Tuesday in exchange for minor-leaguers Dillon Lewis, Brendan Jones, Dylan Jasso and Juan Matheus, Jack Curry of YES Network reports.

Weathers finished the 2025 season with a 3.99 ERA and 1.28 WHIP but was limited to just eight starts due to forearm and lat strains. Now fully recovered from both injuries, the 26-year-old will help bolster a Yankees rotation that is expected to begin the regular season without Gerrit Cole (elbow) and Carlos Rodon (elbow).

  • Marlins' Ryan Weathers: Agrees to deal with Miami

Weathers agreed to a one-year contract worth $1.35 million with the Marlins on Thursday to avoid arbitration, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports.

Weathers opened the 2025 campaign on the Marlins' injured list due to a forearm strain, but after debuting in mid-May he wound up back on the IL with a lat strain after just five starts. The 26-year-old southpaw was cleared to return in September, and over his last three outings of the season he posted a 1-1 record with a 5.27 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 14:4 K:BB across 13.2 innings. Weathers has started in only 39 major-league games over the last three seasons, but if he remains healthy, he should serve in a prominent role in the Marlins' rotation in 2026.

  • Marlins' Ryan Weathers: Routed by Philly

Weathers (2-2) took the loss Wednesday, coughing up five runs on six hits -- including three home runs -- and two walks over 4.2 innings as the Marlins were thumped 11-1 by the Phillies. He struck out eight.

The eight Ks were a season high for the southpaw, but so were the three long balls as Kyle Schwarber, Edmundo Sosa and Bryson Stott all took him deep on a night when Philly launched eight homers in total. Weathers made only eight starts in 2025 due to injuries, and he'll head into the winter with a 3.99 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 37:12 K:BB through 38.1 innings.

  • Marlins' Ryan Weathers: Labors through four frames

Weathers allowed three runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out two batters over four innings in a no-decision against Colorado on Wednesday.

Weathers yielded a constant stream of traffic, failing to record a clean inning and allowing multiple baserunners in all but one of the frames in which he pitched. That caused him to rack up a high pitch count of 80 pitches through four frames, and he consequently didn't return for the fifth inning. Weathers shined with five scoreless frames in his return from a lengthy IL stint in his previous start, so fantasy managers may not want to hold this shaky outing against him too much given that it was in the altitude of Colorado. However, Weathers is lined up for a tough matchup in Philadelphia next week, so he doesn't make for a great SP option for those in the midst of fantasy playoffs.

  • Marlins' Ryan Weathers: Blanks Nats in return

Weathers (2-1) earned the win against the Nationals on Thursday, allowing five hits while striking out four across five scoreless innings. He did not issue a walk.

Weathers was cleared to make his first start since early June after missing time due to a left lat strain. He looked good in his return, limiting the Nationals to five baserunners while generating 12 whiffs on just 68 pitches (46 strikes). Now that he has his first major-league start in three months under his belt, Weathers should have a longer leash in his next outing, which is tentatively slated for next week on the road against the Rockies.

  • Marlins' Ryan Weathers: Returns from IL to start Thursday

The Marlins activated Weathers (lat) from the 60-day injured list Thursday to start Thursday against the Nationals.

Weathers will make his return to the Marlins' rotation for his first big-league start since June 7. The left-hander has been limited to only five starts in the majors this season, first missing time due to a forearm strain and more recently a lat strain. Weathers threw 68 pitches in his second of two rehab outings, so his workload will be relatively limited versus the Nats.
