Player Outlook
Joshua White was dominant across the highest two levels of the minors in 2025, compiling a 1.86 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 107:22 K:BB across 67.2 innings between Double-A Pensacola and Triple-A Jacksonville. The 25-year-old righty was named to the Triple-A All-Star team for his strong performance, and with numbers like that, it's no surprise the Marlins added him to their 40-man roster this offseason to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft. White's three-pitch arsenal includes a slider and curveball that generate plenty of swing-and-miss, but his mid-90's fastball is merely adequate. The 2022 fifth-round pick is capable of covering more than one inning at a time, which is how Miami deployed Ronny Henriquez (elbow) at the beginning of 2025 before shifting him to a more traditional high-leverage relief role. White has a chance to make the Marlins' Opening Day roster and is worth monitoring throughout 2026 since closer Pete Fairbanks is signed to a one-year deal.

  • Marlins' Josh White: Dispatched to Triple-A

The Marlins optioned White to Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday. While he wasn't able to secure a spot on the Marlins' Opening Day roster, White could be a candidate to pitch in high-leverage spots out of the big-league bullpen at some point later this season if he can continue to carry over his success from 2025. Between stops with Jacksonville and Double-A Pensacola last season, the 25-year-old righty was one of the more dominant relief arms in the upper minors thanks to a deceptive high arm slot, finishing with a collective 1.86 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 107:23 K:BB in 67.2 innings.
