Greene is absent from Detroit's lineup for the second game of Friday's doubleheader against Cleveland.
After being reinstated from the injured list Tuesday, Greene will rest for the second half of Friday's doubleheader. The 25-year-old went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in the matinee. Ben Malgeri will man left field and bat seventh for the Tigers.
The Tigers activated Greene (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list, and he's starting in left field and batting cleanup Tuesday against the Twins.
The 25-year-old outfielder has been sidelined since suffering a hamstring string Aug. 12 but is now back with the Tigers for the final month of the season. Greene went 1-for-6 with two walks in two rehab games and will look to shake off the slow start to August that saw him bat .214 (6-for-28) with two extra-base hits and 12 strikeouts.

Greene (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Toledo on Saturday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Greene will serve as the Mud Hens' designated hitter Saturday before returning to the outfield Sunday. Assuming he gets through the weekend without any issues, he could be cleared to return to the Tigers on Monday for the start of their upcoming series against the Twins.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Friday that Greene (hamstring) is "doing really well," and the outfielder could be ready to begin a rehab assignment this weekend, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Greene did some baserunning and took live fungoes Friday at Comerica Park as he continues to ramp up baseball activities. He's missed just a little over two weeks with a right hamstring strain, so Greene's rehab assignment should be brief. A return early next week seems likely.

Shortly after landing on the injured list Aug. 12 due to a left hamstring strain, Greene headed to the Tigers' spring training facility in Florida to complete a running, hitting and defensive progression, per MLB.com. Though he's now back in Detroit, Greene's activation doesn't yet appear to be imminent. He's expected to continue taking part in baseball activities during the Tigers' homestand and will likely need to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment before making his return from the IL.

The Tigers placed Greene on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to a right hamstring strain.
Greene sustained the injury in the second inning of the Tigers' 6-4 win over the Guardians on Tuesday, either when he was hit on his right leg by a pitch or when he was running the bases shortly thereafter. The Tigers may not know the extent of Greene's injury until he undergoes an MRI, but the club will elect to hold him out for at least the next week and a half. Detroit called up Corey Julks from Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move, and the Tigers will likely lean on a combination of Julks, Ben Malgeri and James Outman to fill in in left field while Greene is on the mend.

Greene took a 92.1 mph sinker from Cleveland right-hander Tanner Bibee off his right leg to open the bottom of the second inning, and he was ultimately able to stay in the game long enough to score on a one-out RBI double by Spencer Torkelson. Greene was then taken out of the game prior to the top of the third frame, and Ben Malgeri took over in left field. Greene will likely undergo imaging on the leg, and more information on his status will likely be provided in the near future.
Greene went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 8-0 win over the Mariners.
Greene had gone 0-for-14 with five walks over his previous four games, leading to a day off Sunday. The outfielder was one of four Tigers to put up multiple hits in Tuesday's contest. He's now batting .278 with an .831 OPS, 16 homers, 54 RBI, 61 runs scored, 24 doubles, one triple and three stolen bases over 111 contests. While Greene still has decent production overall, he's fallen far short of matching the promise he showed in a 36-homer, 111-RBI campaign during the 2025 regular season.

Greene cut the deficit to one run in the ninth inning, but the Tigers couldn't find the tying run. Greene has gone 12-for-44 (.273) over 13 games in July, adding seven extra-base hits and 10 RBI this month. Overall, the outfielder is batting .286 with an .846 OPS, 14 homers, 47 RBI, 50 runs scored, two stolen bases, 20 doubles and one triple over 98 contests. While it's a decent performance overall, Greene has taken a noticeable step back in most counting stats compared to where he was last year.

Greene gave the Tigers all the offense they would need with his 12th home run of the season, a two-run shot in the top of the first inning against Cal Quantrill. The Detroit outfielder has gone deep four times across his past 12 games, and he's sporting a robust .945 OPS during that stretch. For the year, Greene has an .830 OPS, which would barely eke past the .827 mark he posted in 2024 as a new career best.
