Red Sox's T.J. Sikkema: Nets NRI deal from Boston
The Red Sox signed Sikkema to a minor-league contract Jan. 6 that includes an invitation to spring training.
Sikkema was in the Reds organization this past season, posting a 4.57 ERA and 72:31 K:BB over 86.2 innings in 15 starts and eight relief appearances between Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Louisville. The 27-year-old lefty has yet to appear in the majors but will get a chance in spring training to compete for a spot on Boston's Opening Day roster.

Royals' T.J. Sikkema: Traded for Benintendi
Sikkema, Chandler Champlain and Beck Way were traded from the Yankees to the Royals on Wednesday in exchange for Andrew Benintendi, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
Sikkema missed the 2021 campaign due to a lat injury but has been pitching well at the High-A level this year with a 2.48 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 54:9 K:BB across 36.1 innings. He'll likely remain at that level with his new organization, though he could also make the move to Double-A.

Yankees' T.J. Sikkema: Activated from 7-day IL
Sikkema (lat) returned from High-A Hudson Valley's 7-day injured list Sunday and struck out three over two perfect innings in the affiliate's 2-0 win over Jersey Shore.
The appearance was Sikkema's first in affiliated ball since 2019, after he didn't pitch in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor-league season and in 2021 due to the lat injury. Sikkema looked sharp in his debut for Hudson Valley and should gradually ramp up his pitch count in his subsequent outings.

Yankees' T.J. Sikkema: Lands on injured list
Sikkema (lat) was placed on the injured list at High-A Hudson Valley on Friday, Conor Foley of The Scranton Times-Tribune reports.
Sikkema missed the entirety of the 2021 campaign while dealing with a lat injury, and he's apparently not fully recovered for the start of this season. He has only 10.2 innings of rookie ball under his belt since being selected 38th overall during the 2019 Draft.

Yankees' T.J. Sikkema: Out with lat injury
Sikkema will miss the start of the season with a lat injury, Jim Callis of MLB.com reports.
It is unclear how serious the injury is, but Callis notes that the Yankees are hopeful Sikkema will be able to join an affiliate in the near future. He will likely open the year at High-A or Double-A.
