  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Boone sees big role in 2025

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Monday that he expects Dominguez to be a "big part" of the team in 2025, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports. Much to the chagrin of many Yankees fans, Boone largely stuck with Alex Verdugo as his primary left fielder over Dominguez during the regular season and postseason. However, Verdugo is now a free agent and seems unlikely to return, clearing a spot in the everyday lineup for Dominguez. What position the 21-year-old plays could depend on whether the Yankees' re-sign Juan Soto, but Dominguez is likely to be an everyday player either way. He has a .747 OPS with six homers and six steals over 100 career plate appearances in the majors and boasts ample fantasy upside.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Still not starting versus lefty

Dominguez is not in the lineup Thursday for Game 3 of the ALCS versus the Guardians. The Yankees are facing a lefty (Matthew Boyd) for the second time this postseason, and it's the first time they're going up against a southpaw that doesn't have reverse splits (they faced Cole Ragans the first time). Nevertheless, the switch-hitting Dominguez will again yield left field to the left-handed-hitting Alex Verdugo, who has started all seven contests during these playoffs. Dominguez has yet to see any action this postseason.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Out of lineup again for Game 3

Dominguez is absent from the lineup Wednesday for Game 3 of the ALDS versus the Royals. Dominguez started in left field in each of the last five games of the regular season, but he has yet to see any action in the ALDS. The Yankees are again going with Alex Verdugo in left field for Game 3.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Records fifth steal

Dominguez went 0-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Thursday's 10-1 win over the Orioles. Dominguez's steal was his fifth in as many attempts this season. The outfield prospect is still struggling to hit consistently -- he has just one multi-hit effort in 15 major-league contests, and he's batting .191 with two homers, four RBI and seven runs scored over 54 plate appearances. Dominguez is set to continue sharing left field with the more defensively steady Alex Verdugo.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Dominguez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Orioles. Dominguez started the previous two games and went 2-for-8 with a two-run homer and a stolen base, but he'll sit for Tuesday's series opener versus Baltimore. Alex Verdugo will take over in left field and bat ninth.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Blasts homer in win

Dominguez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Athletics. Dominguez erased the Athletics' early lead with a two-run blast in the second inning. The 21-year-old has struggled with consistency at the plate so far in the majors, notching just one multi-hit effort in 12 games this year. He's collected two homers, four RBI, six runs scored and four stolen bases while batting .200 and slugging .375 across 46 plate appearances.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Getting breather Friday

Dominguez isn't in New York's lineup Friday versus Oakland. Dominguez will get a day off Friday after going 2-for-4 with a double in Thursday's loss. While he sits, Alex Verdugo, Aaron Judge and Juan Soto will form the Yankees' outfield trio.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Goes deep in big win

Dominguez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's win over the Mariners. Dominguez took Bryan Woo deep to center in the fifth for his first home run of the season while also forcing Woo from the game. The homer was Dominguez's first extra-base knock and first RBI in seven big-league games this season and he's now worked a walk in four consecutive starts.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Returning to majors

The Yankees recalled Dominguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday. Manager Aaron Boone said that Dominguez will start in center field and bat sixth in the Yankees' series opener versus the Royals, according to Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com. As Bryan Hoch of MLB.com notes, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman recently said that Dominguez wouldn't rejoin the big club if he wasn't going to play regularly, so expect the 21-year-old phenom to take on a near-everyday role in the outfield now that he's back in the majors. Dominguez impressed in a small sample of eight games with the Yankees in 2023 and has turned in a .309/.368/.480 slash line with seven home runs and 15 stolen bases in 193 plate appearances at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season after completing his recovery from Tommy John surgery.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Denied Sept. 1 call-up

The Yankees did not recall Dominguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday, though he could still join the big club later this month, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports. Rather than Dominguez, the Yankees promoted another outfielder in Duke Ellis from Triple-A to fill one of the openings on the active roster, which expanded from 26 to 28 players Sunday. The decision not to promote Dominguez likely stems from the big club not having an everyday role available for the 21-year-old; Alex Verdugo, Aaron Judge and Juan Soto serve as the Yankees' regular starting outfield trio, while Giancarlo Stanton is a full-time designated hitter. Instead, the Yankees will turn to a non-prospect in Ellis to fill out a bench spot as a pinch-running specialist and late-inning defensive replacement, while Dominguez will likely stick around with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for the time being to get regular at-bats. As Bryan Hoch of MLB.com notes, Dominguez will retain rookie status for 2025 if he does not exceed 130 at-bats -- he has 35 for now -- with the Yankees this season, which would allow the team to pick up a compensation pick in 2026 if he wins the 2025 American League Rookie of the Year Award. With that in mind, it wouldn't be overly surprising if Dominguez remained at Triple-A until Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's regular season ends Sept. 22.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Returned to minors

Dominguez was returned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday. Dominguez came up as the extra man for the Little League Classic and was in the starting lineup, batting fifth while playing left field. He went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts and will now head back to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Up as 27th man

The Yankees appointed Dominguez as the 27th man for Sunday's game against the Tigers in the Little League Classic at Williamsport, Penn. Both teams get an extra player for Sunday's game at a neutral site, and New York will use that roster spot for its top prospect. Dominguez has struggled to a .612 OPS at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre since returning from an oblique injury in late July, though he's hit better recently and has gone 7-for-17 in his past five games. The 21-year-old is in the starting lineup for Sunday's contest but will still return to the minors after the game, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, since there's no clear path to regular playing time with the big club.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Reinstated from Triple-A IL

Dominguez (oblique) was activated from the 7-day injured list by Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Dominguez missed nearly six weeks of action with a strained oblique. The top prospect has slashed .389/.405/.639 with two home runs in nine games during his time with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season and will be a candidate to a promotion to the majors during the second half, particularly if the Yankees aren't able to add the offensive help they desire at the trade deadline.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Playing games soon

Dominguez (oblique) took live batting practice Monday in Tampa Bay and is expected to join Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to play in games "within a week," Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Dominguez sustained a strained left oblique in mid-June and was expected to miss up to eight weeks. However, he's ahead of schedule and will return before August. Still, it's likely that Dominguez will be eased into action. The 21-year-old outfielder has a 1.044 OPS in 37 plate appearances with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season and could be a candidate to join the Yankees later in the season.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Remains far off from return

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that Dominguez (oblique) "still has got a ways to go" before he's ready to resume playing, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Boone's comments aren't surprising, given that the skipper previously indicated Dominguez would be out up to eight weeks after he was diagnosed with an oblique strain in mid-June. Dominguez is currently at the Yankees' training complex in Tampa but hasn't been able to do much, according to Boone. He had been impressing at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre prior to suffering the injury, slashing .389/.405/.639 with two home runs, three RBI and two stolen bases through nine games.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Out eight weeks at Triple-A

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Thursday that Dominguez will be out for up to eight weeks at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre due to a "significant" left oblique strain, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports. Boone labeled Dominguez's oblique strain as "moderate" Wednesday, but the injury now appears to be more severe than the Yankees initially believed. The 21-year-old outfielder already missed the first two-plus months of the Triple-A season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, and an eight-week return timeline will keep him out of action until at least mid-August.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Nursing moderate oblique strain

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday that Dominguez is dealing with a moderate left oblique strain, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports. Dominguez was injured on a check swing Saturday while playing for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The Yankees haven't yet established a timeline for Dominguez's return to game action, but it wouldn't be a surprise if a moderate oblique strain resulted in at least a month-long absence. Dominguez began the season on the Yankees' 60-day injured list as he continued his recovery from Tommy John surgery. He's hit .389/.405/.639 with two home runs in nine games during his time with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Placed on IL at Triple-A

Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre placed Dominguez on its 7-day injured list Sunday with what Yankees manager Aaron Boone termed as a left side injury, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. The 21-year-old was formally activated from the Yankees' 60-day injured list earlier this week after a long recovery from Tommy John surgery and was subsequently optioned down to Triple-A. Over nine games at Triple-A thus far, Dominguez hasn't taken long to settle into a groove at the plate, as he was slashing .389/.405/.639 with five extra-base hits and two stolen bases prior to being deactivated. The extent of Dominguez's side injury isn't fully known yet, with Boone noting that the young outfielder is set to undergo further testing.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Continuing rehab at Triple-A

Dominguez's (elbow) rehab assignment was extended an additional 10 days and will continue at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the Yankees announced Tuesday. Dominguez will make another step in his recovery from Tommy John surgery he underwent last September, bumping his rehab assignment up to the Triple-A level. He's already appeared in 14 minor-league games split across Double-A Somerset and Single-A Tampa, and Dominguez will likely require a handful more at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before being activated. Even when cleared, Dominguez will have a tough time cracking New York's active roster considering its abundance of outfield talent.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Playing outfield in rehab game

Dominguez (elbow) will start in center field and bat second for Double-A Somerset in a rehab game Wednesday versus Bowie. Dominguez already has 10 rehab games under his belt, but Wednesday will mark the first time that he's started in center field since he underwent Tommy John surgery last September. The 21-year-old's ability to play the outfield likely signals that he's completed his throwing program, but Dominguez is still likely to remain on his rehab assignment for the full 20-day window or close to it. The Yankees don't have an everyday role available in the outfield for Dominguez at the moment, so he'll likely be optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre once he's reinstated from the 60-day injured list.
