  • Angels' Kyren Paris: Back in action at Triple-A

Paris (lower body) has slashed .103/.133/.276 with a 1:12 BB:K in seven games since being activated from Triple-A Salt Lake's 7-day injured list Sept. 1. Paris had been out of action for nearly two months before he returned to the Salt Lake lineup. The 22-year-old has struggled to find a rhythm at the dish since being activated and is now holding down a weak .641 OPS with three home runs and five stolen bases over 111 plate appearances at Triple-A in 2024.

  • Angels' Kyren Paris: Shelved at Triple-A

Triple-A Salt Lake placed Paris on its 7-day injured list July 11 with an unspecified injury. Paris was sent to the Angels' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate July 20, but he never appeared in any games with the club before the ACL season ended July 25. The infielder could still be conducting his rehab in Arizona, but he'll likely need to report to Single-A Inland Empire or High-A Tri-City once he's ready to get in competitive at-bats before joining back up with Salt Lake. Paris had slashed .118/.224/.216 over 58 plate appearances with the Angels earlier in the season before being demoted to Salt Lake on June 8.

  • Angels' Kyren Paris: Sent down to Salt Lake

Paris was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday. Paris was called up May 9 to assist in the Angels' infield after Brandon Drury (hamstring) was placed on the injured list. Paris struggled in 58 plate appearances, batting .118 with a 29.3 percent strikeout rate and will hand his spot on the active roster to Michael Stefanic.

  • Angels' Kyren Paris: Remains on bench

Paris is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus Seattle, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Paris will remain on the bench for a second game in a row. Luis Rengifo will slide over to second base while Luis Guillorme draws another start at third base and bats ninth against the Mariners.

  • Angels' Kyren Paris: Day off Friday

Paris isn't in the Angels' lineup Friday against the Mariners, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Paris went 0-for-3 during Thursday's loss to the Yankees, making him 0-for-8 across his last four games. Luis Rengifo will take Paris' place at the keystone Friday, allowing Luis Guillorme to start at third base while batting ninth.

  • Angels' Kyren Paris: Launches first career homer

Paris went 1-for-2 with a walk and a two-run home run in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Astros. The 22-year-old gave the Angels all the offense they would need on the afternoon when he took Hunter Brown deep in the fifth inning. It was Paris' first career big-league homer in his 26th game, and while power isn't a big part of his game, he did slug 14 home runs in 113 contests for Double-A Rocket City in 2023. Paris got the start at second base Wednesday but slid over to shortstop, and he could be looking at a longer run at the latter position if Zach Neto (elbow) winds up missing significant time.

  • Angels' Kyren Paris: Promoted to majors

Paris was recalled from Double-A Rocket City on Thursday. With both Brandon Drury (hamstring) and Luis Rengifo (illness) sidelined, the Angels were shorthanded along the infield. Paris boasts enough defensive versatility to help the team in that regard, as he is capable of playing second base and shortstop as well as in the outfield. His ability to contribute as a hitter is far less clear, as he was striking out at a 39.1 percent clip across 92 plate appearances with Rocket City prior to his promotion.

Paris (thumb) is starting at second base and batting ninth in Friday's Cactus League game against the Padres. Paris underwent thumb surgery late last season but is fully healthy heading into 2024. The 22-year-old went 4-for-40 in his first taste of the majors last year and is 1-for-8 through four games in spring training.

  • Angels' Kyren Paris: Placed on 60-day IL

Paris was moved to the 60-day injured list Monday due to a ligament tear in his left thumb. Paris was brought up Friday from Triple-A Salt Lake to get some opportunities in the big leagues, but he was sent for further evaluation Monday after injuring his left thumb. This diagnosis will force him to miss the remainder of the 2023 campaign.

  • Angels' Kyren Paris: Scratched with thumb issue

Paris was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Tigers with left thumb soreness. Paris was poised to make his second consecutive start but was instead a late scratch due to the thumb injury. Zach Neto will join the starting nine after initially being slated for a day off.

  • Angels' Kyren Paris: Recalled from Salt Lake

The Angels recalled Paris from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday. Paris returns 24 hours after being optioned with Mike Moustakas (forearm) hitting the 10-day injured list. The versatile 21-year-old Paris has gone just 3-for-32 (.094) through his first 13 major-league games but could see fairly regular starts down the stretch as the Angels look ahead to 2024.

  • Angels' Kyren Paris: Optioned to Triple-A

The Angels optioned Paris to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday. Paris earned a Sept. 1 call-up from Double-A Rocket City, where he had posted an .810 OPS with 14 homers and 44 steals through 113 games this season. He'll now head to the Triple-A level, and maybe finish the year there, after going 3-for-32 (.094) with zero extra-base hits and 12 strikeouts across his first 13 big-league games.

  • Angels' Kyren Paris: Getting look in center field

Paris will start in center field and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Mariners. Paris is a natural middle infielder and had started at shortstop in nine of the Angels' first 10 games of September, but he lost hold of his everyday role when Zach Neto was activated from the 10-day injured list Sunday. Though Paris was held out of the lineup for the past two games and is slashing just .103/.235/.103 through 35 plate appearances in the majors, the Angels are still eager to give him a look over the final few weeks of the season. To that end, Paris will pick up his first professional start in center field Wednesday while the Angels remain without the services of Mike Trout (wrist) and Mickey Moniak (back).

  • Angels' Kyren Paris: Tallies two thefts Thursday

Paris went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run, an RBI and two stolen bases in a 3-2 win against the Guardians on Thursday. Paris was active in the contest, walking and stealing a base in the third inning and adding another theft after reaching on an error in the fifth. The rookie then came up with arguably his biggest big-league hit to date in the ninth, tying the score with a clutch one-out single and subsequently crossing the plate for the winning run on a Randal Grichuk base hit. Paris has gone just 2-for-16 over his first seven major-league contests, though he's added four walks and three stolen bases.

The Angels selected Paris' contract from Double-A Rocket City on Friday. The 21-year-old middle infielder should get fairly regular starts with the Angels down the stretch as they look ahead to 2024 and beyond.

  • Angels' Kyren Paris: Sent to minors camp

Paris was reassigned to the Angels' minor-league camp on Wednesday. Paris held his own during Cactus League play, posting a .278/.381/.500 slash line with a double, a triple, four runs and a team-leading seven RBI over 21 plate appearances. However, he's yet to play above the Double-A level, so he was never likely to earn a big-league roster spot out of camp. Paris is just 21 years old, but he could make his major-league debut in the next season or two.

  • Angels' Kyren Paris: Advances to Double-A

The Angels promoted Paris from High-A Tri-City to Double-A Rocket City on Tuesday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports. Paris will fill the roster spot vacated by outfielder/first baseman Ryan Aguilar, who was recently elevated to the majors as a COVID-19 replacement before being sent to Triple-A Salt Lake this week. Over 391 plate appearances at Tri-City this season, the 20-year-old Paris slashed .229/.345/.387 with eight home runs and 28 stolen bases.

Paris joined the Angels' player pool Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. This appears to be nothing more than a developmental move for the 18-year-old, who was taken in the second round of the 2019 draft. He's played just three professional games, all at the rookie ball level.
