Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Connects for 13th home run
Carpenter went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 9-3 win over the Yankees.
Carpenter took tough New York righty Cam Schlittler deep in the first inning. The outfielder didn't do much after that, though it was enough to extend his hitting streak to five games, and he's gone deep three times during the hot stretch. Overall, Carpenter has 13 home runs, 36 RBI and an .810 OPS across 63 contests this season, with almost all of his damage coming against righties.

Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Heading to bench Monday
Carpenter is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees.
After a stretch of four consecutive starts, the left-handed-hitting Carpenter will hit the bench while the Yankees send southpaw Ryan Weathers to the bump. With Riley Greene and Colt Keith joining Carpenter on the bench, the Tigers will go with Jahmai Jones at designated hitter and Matt Vierling, James Outman and Ben Malgeri as their starters in the outfield from left to right.

Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Launches grand slam Saturday
Carpenter went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in Saturday's 8-6 loss to the Astros.
The 28-year-old slugger came to the plate with the bases loaded in the third inning and got hold of a hanging curveball from Kai-Wei Teng, depositing it in the right-field seats. It was Carpenter's 12th homer of the year and, remarkably, the first grand slam of the season for the Tigers. Carpenter's gone yard in back-to-back games, and over 22 contests in June he's batting .234 (15-for-64) with seven long balls and 18 RBI.

Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Lifts off Friday
Carpenter went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 8-0 win over the Astros.
Carpenter took Houston starter Spencer Arrighetti deep with a runner on in the third inning for his 11th home run of the season. All 11 of the outfielder's long balls have come against righties, and he has a .795 OPS in those matchups this year. Carpenter still isn't providing much against southpaws, posting just a .421 OPS in a small number of at-bats, so he should remain a strong-side platoon player moving forward.

Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Sitting against southpaw again
Carpenter is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
The left-handed-hitting Carpenter will be on the bench for the second day in a row while the Yankees send another lefty starter (Ryan Weathers) to the bump. Ben Malgeri will fill in for Carpenter in right field once again after going 2-for-3 with a run scored in his MLB debut Tuesday.

Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Pops 10th home run Wednesday
Carpenter went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Astros.
The seventh-inning blast for Carpenter was his 10th of the season and fourth this month across 13 games. The 30-year-old outfielder is now sporting a .946 OPS in June, and he continues to do most of his damage against righties. On the season, Carpenter has an .832 OPS in those matchups versus only a .490 OPS in limited action against southpaws.

Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Taking seat against lefty
Carpenter isn't starting for Detroit in Saturday's matchup versus the Guardians.
Carpenter has only 12 plate appearances against southpaws this season and has gone 1-for-10, so it's not surprising that he's beginning on the bench versus Cleveland lefty Joey Cantillo. Wenceel Perez is drawing the start in right field in Carpenter's stead Saturday.

Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Goes deep again Friday
Carpenter went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 7-3 win over the Mariners.
Carpenter popped his second home run in the last three contests to get to eight long balls for the season. The 28-year-old outfielder recently returned from a three-week absence due to an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder, and he's gone 6-for-15 with the two homers and five RBI in his four games back. It appears that Carpenter is fully recovered from the injury and primed to produce at a high level as long as he remains healthy.

Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Homers in three-hit game
Carpenter went 3-for-5 with a double, a solo home run and two total RBI in Monday's 10-9 win over the Rays.
Carpenter was one of four Detroit players to go deep in an offensive explosion Monday. The outfielder just returned from the injured list Sunday after missing about three weeks due to an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder, and the long ball was his first since April 24. Carpenter is still looking to hit his stride this year, and the injury certainly disrupted his momentum, but the 28-year-old is capable of heating up in a hurry.

Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Returning from IL as DH on Sunday
The Tigers reinstated Carpenter (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list Sunday. He'll start at designated hitter and bat cleanup in the Tigers' series finale versus the White Sox.
Carpenter will be back in action for Detroit after a three-week absence while he recovered from an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder. The 28-year-old could eventually settle back into a regular role in the corner outfield, but after going 1-for-3 with three walks while playing in a pair of rehab games with Triple-A Toledo the past two days, Carpenter won't be asked to play defense in his return from the IL.

Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Set to begin rehab assignment
Carpenter (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Friday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Working his way back from an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder, Carpenter faced Justin Verlander (hip) in a simulated game Wednesday and is now ready to test things out in an official game setting. He's been sidelined for less than three weeks, so Carpenter shouldn't require too many rehab at-bats before being reinstated to the Tigers' active roster.

Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Faces live pitching Wednesday
Carpenter (shoulder) hit in a simulated game Wednesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Carpenter took at-bats against fellow rehabber Justin Verlander (hip) in what was his first time facing live pitching since he went down with an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder in early May. A rehab assignment appears imminent for the 29-year-old Carpenter.

Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Could face live pitching Wednesday
Carpenter (shoulder) could be cleared to take live batting practice Wednesday, MLB.com reports.
Carpenter was able to shag flyballs and take some swings in the batting cage Tuesday as part of his return-to-play progression and could take another step forward Wednesday. He's been on the shelf since May 10 due to an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder and may require a rehab assignment prior to being activated.

Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Eyeing abbreviated stint on shelf
Carpenter (shoulder) has been doing light running and throwing since landing on the 10-day injured list and expects to resume swinging a bat this week, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Carpenter previously missed six weeks during the 2023 season after spraining the AC joint of his right shoulder, but he appears to be trending toward a much quicker return after suffering the same injury to his left shoulder May 9, when he slammed into the outfield wall in a game against the Royals. Once he completes a full hitting progression, Carpenter said that he expects to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment before coming off the IL.
