Isaac Collins was surprisingly in the running for NL Rookie of the Year as he posted an .805 OPS while providing strong defense through his first 112 games, but his play, both offensively and defensively, fell off during the final month of the season. He still finished the regular season with a .779 OPS but saw limited playing time down the stretch and filled a bench role during the playoffs. The Brewers apparently were content with their outfield alignment during that stretch, as the club traded him to the Royals in December. He will likely compete for playing time in left field with Lane Thomas, who signed with Kansas City shortly after the trade. Collins totaled nine home runs, 16 steals, 54 RBI and 56 runs in 130 games as a rookie, and that modest run production combined with a .247 xBA and .349 xSLG doesn't paint a great picture of his upside for 2026.

  • Royals' Isaac Collins: Slow-played after PRP injections

    Collins has been held out of Cactus League play thus far after receiving platelet-rich plasma injections in his knees over the offseason, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports. Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Collins is "feeling great" and is slated to make his spring training debut Tuesday against the Reds. Kansas City traded for Collins in December and Quatraro said the team knew about the PRP injections at the time of the deal. Collins is competing for the Royals' left-field job with Lane Thomas.

    The Brewers traded Collins to the Royals on Saturday alongside Nick Mears in exchange for Angel Zerpa, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Collins entered the 2025 season as a relatively unknown player but quickly proved himself as a productive bat, slashing .263/.368/.411 with 54 RBI, 56 runs scored and 16 stolen bases over 441 regular-season plate appearances. However, he struggled down the stretch and didn't have a significant role for the Brewers in the playoffs. His overall performance allowed him to take fourth place in NL Rookie of the Year voting. With Garrett Mitchell (shoulder) expected to return in 2026 and Akil Baddoo signing with the Brewers on Thursday, Milwaukee's outfield room was beginning to become crowded, so the team will now send Collins to Kansas City, where the 28-year-old outfielder should have a much easier path to regular playing time.
