Michael Baron@michaelgbaron9H agoI do appreciate the #Mets ability and track record to reinvent starting pitchers. And they're going to have a 6-man rotation for much of 2025, as Stearns said last week. But they definitely need more of a sure thing for this rotation. I believe they will sign one.

Michael Baron@michaelgbaron10H agoGriffin Canning allowed an American League high 99 earned runs while allowing 31 home runs and 66 walks with 130 strikeouts in 171.2 IP last season. Yikes. #Mets

Michael Baron@michaelgbaron10H agoPer @Ken_Rosenthal, the #Mets signed RHP Griffin Canning to a one-year, $4.25 million contract. He was 6-13, 5.19 ERA in 32 games, 31 starts in 2024 for the #Angels. He was acquired by Atlanta for Jorge Soler, who non-tendered him.

Anthony DiComo@AnthonyDiComo10H agoThe Mets have acquired another starting pitcher: Griffin Canning for one year and $4.25 million guaranteed, source confirms. Recently non-tendered by the Braves, Canning owns a 4.78 career ERA over five seasons with the Angels.

Anthony DiComo@AnthonyDiComo14H agoClearing up some reporting I've seen on Alex Reyes and the Mets: Reyes, who hasn't appeared in a professional game since 2021, was in the org this past season on a minor league deal. He never wound up pitching for an affiliate and was released. Reyes is currently a free agent.
