Brewers' Matt Albers: Tagged with loss
Albers (8-6) allowed a solo home run to the only batter he faced, taking the loss versus the Rockies on Saturday.
Albers' sixth pitch to Trevor Story in the tenth inning was a deposited over the right field fence for the walkoff. Albers has struggled this season, posting a 5.13 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with 57 strikeouts in 59.2 innings. He's allowed five runs in 4.1 innings in September.

Brewers' Matt Albers: Piling up wins
Albers picked up his eighth win of the season in Tuesday's victory over the Padres.
Albers served up a game-tying home run to Hunter Renfroe in the top of the seventh inning, but he was able to finish out the frame and picked up the win when the Brewers reclaimed the lead in their half of the seventh. Albers allowed 11 runs over his last seven innings pitched, but he's given up just one run in 3.2 innings over his last four outings and has picked up three wins in the process.

Brewers' Matt Albers: Charged with loss in relief
Albers (5-5) took the loss against the Cubs on Thursday after recording just one out and surrendering three runs on two hits and a walk with one strikeout.
Albers came into the sixth inning during a 4-4 game. The right-hander gave up back-to-back singles before striking out Nicholas Castellanos. He then loaded the bases by walking Kris Bryant, who would be his final batter of the night. Unfortunately, Kyle Schwarber would soon hit a grand slam, charging Albers with the loss. Across 61 appearances this season, Albers owns an unsightly 5.17 ERA and 1.35 WHIP.

Brewers' Matt Albers: Nabs fourth save
Albers walked three but managed to record the final two outs Wednesday against the Twins to record his fourth save.
Albers was called upon to close the door on the Twins with Josh Hader unavailable. He made things interesting, walking the bases loaded prior to getting C.J. Cron to fly out to end the game. Albers has had a fairly strong season, posting a 3.86 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with 50 strikeouts and 21 walks across 51.1 innings. Combined with Hader's recent struggles, Albers could be in line to earn a few more saves prior to season's end, though it's unlikely he takes over the primary closer duties at any point.

Brewers' Matt Albers: Notches save
Albers, despite allowing two hits and an earned run, picked up his second save of the season in Tuesday's 4-3 victory over the Pirates.
Albers' string of nine straight scoreless outings earned him the chance to close out Tuesday's game with Josh Hader unavailable, and although he ceded a run and allowed another runner to reach third base with just one out, he was able to shut the door on the Pirates. Albers has pitched mainly in middle relief this season, but with fellow late-inning relievers Jeremy Jeffress and Freddy Peralta struggling of late, he is now apparently at least in the mix for saves whenever Hader is unable to go.

Brewers' Matt Albers: Ninth straight scoreless outing
Albers tossed 0.2 scoreless innings of relief in Monday's victory over the Pirates.
Albers struggled coming out of the All-Star break, allowing six earned runs in his first two appearances of the second half, but he has been sharp since, giving up just three hits while posting a 9:2 K:BB over 8.2 scoreless frames. Albers recorded a hold in his last two outings, but he currently resides on the fringes of the Brewers' late-inning mix.

Brewers' Matt Albers: Struggles in loss
Albers was tagged for four earned runs in the Brewers' extra-inning loss to the Giants on Friday.
Albers was on the mound when the 10th inning got underway Friday, but he could not keep the game tied, allowing the first three runners to reach base before serving up a grand slam to Buster Posey. Albers has been generally effective this season -- he owned a 3.57 ERA as recently as June 30 -- and has been used more frequently in key spots of late, but Friday's results don't help his ratios or his case for seeing even more of those opportunities.

Brewers' Matt Albers: Earns first save
Albers allowed a hit in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save over Pittsburgh on Sunday.
It was the first save of 2019 for Albers and just the fourth of his career. The Brewers may have been looking to ease the workload on regular closer Josh Hader, so don't expect Albers to get anything resembling regular opportunities.

Brewers' Matt Albers: Picks up third win
Albers picked up his third win of the season in Sunday's victory over the Giants.
Albers entered Sunday's game in a bases-loaded, no-out situation with the Brewers leading by two, but the Giants tallied just one run off him and did not score again, which led him to the victory even though he only pitched one inning, as starter Chase Anderson only pitched four innings. Albers has been a reliable arm out of the Brewers' bullpen this season, allowing the opponent to score in just nine of his 29 appearances and posting respectable ratios: a 4.34 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 30:11 K:BB.

Brewers' Matt Albers: Finishes Thursday's victory
Albers tossed a scoreless ninth inning in the Brewers' 11-5 victory over the Pirates on Thursday.
Closer Josh Hader entered Thursday's game in the eighth inning and would have been in line for a save had he remained in the game for the ninth, but with the Brewers scoring four runs in the top of the frame, manager Craig Counsell decided to take Hader out to limit his pitch count. Albers was allowed to finish the job instead, retiring all three batters he faced, one via strikeout. He has recorded two scoreless outings in a row after allowing at least one earned run in four of his previous seven appearances.

Brewers' Matt Albers: Effective out of bullpen
Albers tossed a scoreless seventh inning in Thursday's victory over the Phillies.
Albers was charged with protecting a four-run lead when he entered and got the job done. He really struggled at the end of the 2018 campaign, but has been reliable out of the bullpen early this season, keeping the opponent off the scoreboard in 14 of his 19 appearances while posting a 4.26 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 22:5 K:BB over 19 innings.

Brewers' Matt Albers: Filling middle-relief role
Albers tossed 1.1 scoreless innings in Tuesday's loss to the Cardinals.
Albers allowed three earned runs in a loss to the Dodgers last week, but he has notched two scoreless outings since. He has been used in a multitude of situations this season, but has not regularly been part of the Brewers' late-inning mix, which has given him limited appeal in fantasy formats.

Brewers' Matt Albers: Two scoreless frames in win
Albers pitched two scoreless innings in the Brewers' victory over the Cardinals on Sunday.
Albers entered Sunday's game in the sixth inning with the Brewers trailing 4-1, and he kept the opposition off the scoreboard in consecutive frames to keep the Brewers in the game. Albers has not allowed an earned run over three innings this season while posting a 4:1 K:BB, but his fantasy value is minimal right now, as he is not currently part of the Brewers' late-inning mix.

Brewers' Matt Albers: Mixed results this spring
Albers threw a scoreless inning of relief in Tuesday's spring game against the Rangers.
Albers has had mixed results this spring, allowing just two earned runs over 5.2 innings (3.18) and striking out eight batters, but also giving up six hits, issuing two walks and hitting two batters. The Brewers signed Albers to a two-year contract last offseason, and he has likely done enough to hang onto his roster spot. However, he really struggled at the end of last year, and could be on a bit of a short leash if that carries into this season.

Brewers' Matt Albers: Struggles continue
Albers allowed two earned runs over one inning in Sunday's loss to the Pirates.
Albers took the mound Sunday for the first time in nearly three weeks, and just like he had done seven times over his previous nine appearances he allowed multiple runners to cross the plate. Albers was briefly a fantasy factor early on, notching two wins and a blown save between April 6-11, and he owned a 1.08 ERA at the end of May. However, he has struggled mightily ever since, giving up 25 earned runs over just 9.1 innings (24.11 ERA), and will not garner consideration for the playoff roster should the Brewers reach the postseason.
