  • Troy Tulowitzki: Announces retirement

Tulowitzki (calf) announced his retirement Thursday, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

Injuries have gotten the better of Tulowitzki recently -- he's appeared in just 71 games over the past three seasons -- prompting the veteran shortstop to call it quits after 13 seasons with the Rockies, Blue Jays and Yankees. Tulowitzki will finish his career with a .290/.361/.495 slash line and 225 home runs in 1291 games.

  • Yankees' Troy Tulowitzki: Considering options

Tulowitzki (calf) remains at home while considering his options, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

Tulowitzki recently hit a snag in his rehab due to a lingering calf issue. The veteran likely joined the Yankees in hopes of establishing himself as a useful piece prior to Didi Gregorius' return from Tommy John surgery, but he appeared in just five games before going down with an injury of his own. With Gregorius now back from the injured list, there's certainly no starting role available for Tulowitzki and possibly no bench role either. It's unclear if Tulowitzki's options extend all the way to retirement or simply to asking for his release to find a new opportunity. The former can't be ruled out, despite the fact that he's just 34 years old, as he's been battered by injuries in recent years, appearing in just 71 games over the last three seasons.

  • Yankees' Troy Tulowitzki: Moves to 60-day IL

Tulowitzki (calf) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday.

Tulowitzki will take the place of Didi Gregorius (elbow) on the 60-day IL with Gregorius making his return to the 25-man roster after Tommy John surgery last year. Tulowitzki was sent home to take some days off from his rehab earlier this week and doesn't seem particularly close to returning to the majors.

  • Yankees' Troy Tulowitzki: Sent home from rehab

Tulowitzki (calf) has been given a few days off from his rehab, Coley Harvey of ESPN.com reports.

Tulowitzki seemed to be nearing a rehab assignment, but his progress has apparently stalled. Manager Aaron Boone told reporters the Yankees have sent the shortstop home for a few days to rest his lingering calf issue. Tulowitzki appeared in just five games this season before going down with injury, and this latest development indicates he's still a ways off from a return to the field.
