After a busy week of trade deadline roster moves, the Portland Trail Blazers made two more on Wednesday: claiming forward J.J. Hickson off of waivers and releasing center Mehmet Okur.

Hickson, 23, was bought out by the Sacramento Kings earlier this week. The Kings traded for Hickson by sending forward Omri Casspi to the Cleveland Cavaliers prior to the 2011 lockout. SI.com reported that Hickson was expecting to sign with the Golden State Warriors if he had cleared waivers.

"We like J.J.'s energy and physicality," Acting General Manager Chad Buchanan said in a press release. "He's a young, but experienced player who can help our frontline."

Hickson averaged 4.7 points and 5.1 rebounds in 18.4 minutes per game off the bench for the Kings this season and boasts career averages of 8.5 points and 5.6 rebounds over four seasons.

Okur, meanwhile, is out for the season with a back injury and was acquired by Portland in a trade deadline deal, along with forward Shawne Williams and a 2012 top-3 protected first round pick, for forward Gerald Wallace. His release allows Portland to get back down to the maximum of 15 players on their roster.

Portland's bench was dominated by the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night, outscored 45-9. The Blazers reserves combined to shoot just 2-for-29. Hickson will join a frontcourt that includes All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge, Joel Przybilla, Kurt Thomas, Craig Smith, Luke Babbitt and Hasheem Thabeet.

The Blazers traded starting center Marcus Camby to the Houston Rockets last Thursday in exchange for Thabeet and guard Jonny Flynn. Portland also released centers Greg Oden and Chris Johnson to accommodate the trades on Thursday and renounced their rights to point guard Patty Mills over the weekend.
