It's still August, which means there isn't a ton of NBA basketball happening or NBA news going on. This is the down time of the year for the NBA as everybody is training and getting a little more rest in before we start ramping things up toward training camp. FIBA has us covered for quenching our basketball thirst right now though.
The 2015 FIBA Americas Championship is starting up in Mexico as teams from North and South America try to earn a berth in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Canada faced off against Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico in the 2015 Marchand Continental Cup on Wednesday and we saw a pretty good game. Led by Minnesota Timberwolves' youngster Andrew Wiggins' 20 points and 16 points from Orlando Magic forward Andrew Nicholson, Canada beat Puerto Rico 78-72. J.J. Barea's 17 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds weren't enough to grab the victory.
You can check out the highlights below, which includes Wiggins dunking on his former Minnesota teammate Barea.
After the game, Canadian guard and former Wolves' training camp invite Brady Heslip tweeted out a picture of an eye injury. This gave Ricky Rubio a perfect chance to take a shot at his former teammate Barea for the Wiggins dunk.
