Matt Moore and I discuss the changes in the All-Star balloting and wonder just how much it will affect the All-Star rosters we see in February.
While it doesn't necessarily mean the extinction of the All-Star center outside of Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum, it certainly makes the selection process a lot more flexible for coaches in both conferences. This leads us to a debate about whether Josh Smith really adds that much to the Atlanta Hawks on offense.
After we disagree on Smith (spoiler alert!), we jump into the Southwest Division preview. Is now the time to believe in the decline of the San Antonio Spurs and actually have it happen? Do they have too many flaws for even Gregg Popovich to overcome?
You've got the Dallas Mavericks in limbo and the Memphis Grizzlies at their ceiling (according to Matt; I might have paraphrased him incorrectly there). The Mavericks have to see how healthy Dirk Nowitzki is, and the Grizzlies have to see if they have enough perimeter play to complement their front line.
And where do the Hornets and Rockets finish compared to each other? Is Jeremy Lin capable of showing the hype was legitimate? Will the Hornets be able to thrive with Greivis Vasquez as their point guard?
We discuss it all. Please give it a listen.
