The return of Warriors All-Star guard Klay Thompson could be right around the corner. The sharpshooter was just cleared for full practice on Sunday, and he set his intentions on returning in the near future after speaking with media on Tuesday afternoon.

It's been reported that Thompson could return within the week of Christmas, but he verbalized that hope himself to reporters.

"It's definitely a feel thing. It's hard to just put a date on it, but who knows when it could be, but it will be in the first half of the season. Hopefully in the first trimester," Thompson said.

Thompson's been playing 5-on-5 in practice since being cleared, and Warriors head coach Steve Kerr recently said he's been "progressing really well" in his rehab to make his long-awaited debut. Thompson also shed some light on the recent scrimmages he's been doing in practice, which have featured Zaza Pachulia, Leandro Barbosa, in addition to current Warriors players like Moses Moody, Jonathan Kuminga and Juan Toscano-Anderson.

"It's so good having [Pachulia and Barbosa] back. We have such a great history together. Leandro moves like he can still play. Zaza's just a smart player. He might be a little slower than he was, but he can still set a mean screen and throw a great pass," Thompson said. "Playing with Moses, [Kuminga], Juan and all these other guys who are young and lively bodies, it's preparing me well.

"It's the first time I played with them on Monday, and that was just a milestone to play with my teammates. I don't fear getting hurt again, because the last two times I did get hurt were just a freak accident, you could say. I hate to use the phrase 'I can't wait' because I love to be present in my life, but I cannot wait to play in front of our fans again. I really, really enjoy being a Warrior."

Well the sentiment of anticipating Thompson's return is mutual not just within the Warriors' organization, but across the NBA as a whole. However, as exciting as it will be to see a player of Thompson's caliber suit up again after suffering two horrific injuries will also be scary for the rest of the league. So far this season Golden State is out to a league-leading 15-2 start, and own the NBA's top-ranked defense as well as the second-best offense behind the Utah Jazz. Stephen Curry is making a legitimate case for the early-season MVP, and Draymond Green is doing the same for Defensive Player of the Year

In short, the Warriors have been excellent through the first quarter of the season, and if Thompson is able to return as the guy who is capable of knocking down 14 3-pointers in one quarter, and slide back into that role of being the other half of the Splash Brothers with Curry, then the rest of the league should be concerned.

We've seen what the trio of Curry, Thompson and Green can do. Now, with the addition of Andrew Wiggins, who has played incredibly well this season, and the emergence of Jordan Poole, it wouldn't be surprising to see this squad hoisting another Larry O'Brien Trophy at the end of the season, something Thompson says is completely doable even if he is joining the party late.

"We're 15-2, it's a great indicator of ... and our defense is I think top three in the league as well as our offense, and I'm not even out there yet," Thompson said. "Think about that. Really think about that. I'm more motivated than ever as well. I want a championship so bad. More than anything."
