Los Angeles Lakers forward Ryan Kelly was supposed to make his return to the lineup on Sunday, but that won't be happening. Kelly, who had pulled his left hamstring a couple of weeks ago, injured his right hamstring at shootaround. Head coach Byron Scott told reporters it happened in the last drill of the day. That's some bad luck right there.
Kelly has yet to appear in a preseason game for the Lakers this season. It's a shame, too, because his 3-point shooting could actually help their spacing. For all the talk about Scott's outdated philosophy on the long-range shot, Los Angeles would likely be attempting more 3s if Kelly, Nick Young and Steve Nash were healthy.
The Lakers have lost their last three preseason games by an average of 29.7 points, including a 119-86 defeat at the hands of the Utah Jazz on Thursday. They have a rematch with Utah on Sunday.
