In a casual and light-hearted event Monday at the White House, President Obama welcomed the Miami Heat for a ceremony to celebrate the Heat's 2012 NBA Championship.
Obama joked about Mike Miller being "broke down" and still hitting threes in the Finals, and he spoke of the Heat as an example of a team overcoming challenges on their way to a title.
Obama also cracked wise at Dwyane Wade's stylish attire and took a serious moment to commend Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh for their strength and advocacy regarding fatherhood. Obama has met with the three before at private and public events.
James, overwhelmed with emotion, started to say something after coach Erik Spoelstra's remarks, but instead just said "Man, we're at the White House, I mean.... Mom, I made it!"
Here's video of the event.
Quite a moment. Also, I'd just like to note that Dexter Pittman and Norris Cole have stood less than five feet from the President of the United States. It's a mad world.
