Detroit Pistons' guard Steve Blake suffered a concussion in practice on Wednesday, and is out indefinitely until he is symptom free. The Pistons announced the injury on Friday and said he will undergo the NBA's mandatory concussion protocol, which requires him to pass certain levels of exertion testing before he's cleared to practice and play again.
From the Pistons:
The Detroit Pistons announced today that guard Steve Blake was diagnosed with a concussion, suffered in practice on Wednesday.
Blake will undergo the NBA’s mandatory Return-to-Participation Exertion Protocol until he is deemed symptom free. No timetable has been set for his return.
The Pistons acquired Blake this past summer. He exercised his player option for 2015-16 while in Portland and then was part of a draft night trade with Brooklyn that sent him and the draft rights to rookie Rondae Hollis-Jefferson to the Nets and Mason Plumlee with the draft rights of Pat Connaughton to Portland. Detroit then traded Quincy Miller to Brooklyn in exchange for Blake.
Blake is entering his 13th season in the NBA and will be playing for his eighth team when he returns from the concussion.
