John Wall has been out since late September because of stress injury to his left knee. The original timetable had him out eight to 12 weeks, with no surgery required.

Well, it has been about that long. In fact, 12 weeks exactly on Monday. And, according to ESPN.com, Wall is set to have his knee re-examined on Friday with the hope a definitive timetable comes from it.

The Wizards needn't be in any serious rush to get Wall back seeing as they're headed back to the lottery with a disappointing 3-16 record. But getting the key piece back on the floor obviously would at least give the team an idea of where it stands.

Without Wall, the team has lacked any kind of punch and has looked entirely lost at times. With guard A.J. Price also out, the Wizards are staring Jordan Crawford at point guard. That should tell you everything you need to know.

But again, what's the point in hurrying if the Wizards are already in too deep of a hole to dig out of?
