Jordan Farmar shot 44 percent from three last year. Did you know that? It was a very quietly distributed fact, as the Nets were terrible and Farmar struggled with injuries like most of the team. But Farmar was poised to be a free agent had he activated his player option for next season. Either way, once he was traded to the Hawks in the Joe Johnson deal, it was clear he was going to be either bought-out or enter free agency on his own.
He did accept the terms of a buyout the Hawks will likely prepare in the next few days, and already has a new team.
But it's not an NBA team. From the New Jersey Star-Ledger:
The former Nets backup point guard, traded to Atlanta Tuesday as part of the package the Nets used to acquire all-star guard Joe Johnson, will be bought out by the Hawks today for $1.5 million. And once he clears waivers and is officially a free agent, Farmar, who played in Israel last summer during the NBA lockout, intends to go play in Europe, with Anadolu Efes, of Istanbul.

Farmar played in Tel Aviv, Israel last summer during the lockout, and has family there. Istanbul provides him with a much closer plane ride to visit them, and for his soon-to-be-wife to visit them while he gets the perks of playing for the Turkish club.
Amazing that after what really was the best season of his career, Farmar is giving up the NBA to head overseas. But family matters, and this is yet another example.
