It looks like Eric Bledsoe's tenure as a member of the Phoenix Suns is setting below the horizon. According to the Sporting News' Sean Deveney, the Suns would like to draft Providence's Kris Dunn with the No. 4 overall pick in Thursday's NBA Draft and have begun shopping Bledsoe:
Another young veteran who will be firmly on the trading block is Eric Bledsoe of the Suns, as Phoenix seeks to rebalance its guard-heavy roster and hopes to add frontcourt help. The Suns have interest in drafting point guard Kris Dunn of Providence with the No. 4 pick, which would give them a rookie to develop while cashing in on Bledsoe's value.
Bledsoe was a borderline All-Star a few seasons ago and then signed a massive, five-year deal in 2014 with the Suns. However knee injuries have robbed Bledsoe of maximizing his full potential in Phoenix and he missed the majority of last season after having his third knee surgery. Similar to Derrick Rose, Bledsoe's prime may have already happened.
What type of market there is for Bledsoe remains to be seen. Deveney talked to one GM who said the Suns would be selling low on Bledsoe but they may have to, if they want to move on.
Having the fourth pick in the Draft does soften the blow for Phoenix if they decide to part ways with Bledsoe as Dunn could be a nice fit in Phoenix. The Providence guard could be one of the best two-way players in the draft and at 22 years old, Dunn can be the point guard of Phoenix's future for several years to come. Something that the Suns once thought Bledsoe would be.
