The NBA's 44-minute preseason game is in the books, as the Boston Celtics defeated the Brooklyn Nets 95-90 on Sunday. Brooklyn guard Jarrett Jack said in a postgame television interview that he would have liked an extra four minutes, which makes sense considering his team was attempting to make a comeback.
The total duration of the game in real time? One hour, 58 minutes, according to the New York Post's Tim Bontemps. That's not bad, though you're not guaranteed to always trim that much time if you were to do this over and over.
No one saw more playing time than Celtics big man Jared Sullinger's 29 minutes, but it seems unlikely that this would have been the case if this was the regular season. It's obviously very, very normal for coaches to limit starters' minutes at this time of year. Sullinger finished with 21 points and 19 rebounds, making three of his five 3-point attempts.
Nets reserve center Jerome Jordan had 17 points on 7-for-7 shooting off the bench, and Hollins was rather impressed:
