After Toronto Raptors guard Lou Williams won Eastern Conference Player of the Week, he admitted last Monday that doubts did indeed creep in about being able to return to his pre-injury form. He also sounded extremely happy about how things have worked out in Toronto. Williams is the Raptors' sixth man, and he's relishing the role -- he's averaging 14.3 points and he has an amazing, unsustainable PER of 23.87.
Against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, he showed that, while it has been a long road back from ACL surgery, his athleticism is intact. Lakers center Robert Sacre was not ready for this dunk.
With DeMar DeRozan sidelined because of a groin injury, Williams' importance to the Raptors is magnified. They're extremely fortunate that they were able to steal him from Atlanta for the right to waive John Salmons' contract.
