It's only preseason. It's only going against Enes Kanter and the saloon door resistance he gives playing defense. It doesn't mean anything for the future of his career and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Now that we have all of the requisite qualifiers out of the way for enjoying some preseason NBA highlights, let's enjoy some preseason NBA highlights.
No. 1 overall pick Karl-Anthony Towns played in his first exhibition for the Wolves against the Oklahoma City Thunder Thursday night, and he looked like he belonged on the court. Even though Minnesota was blown out 122-99 to the Thunder, there was a lot to be excited about if you're the Wolves.
His jumper looks comfortable, he had some good moments attacking in the paint, and he flexed after his offensive rebound and dunk against Mitch McGary. Towns projects to be a monster on both ends of the floor in this league and it was a nice job of getting his feet wet. He finished with a team-high 18 points (tied with Gorgui Dieng) on 8-of-12 from the field with five rebounds, one assist, two steals, two blocks, and three turnovers.
Somehow, the only people who were able to watch this exhibition were the ones in attendance at the Target Center and the people lucky enough to get a stream of the jumbotron footage from the arena that made it to some League Pass Broadband feeds. Perhaps when that national TV money kicks in, we can find ways to trickle down some to the teams and local broadcasts to at least get us an accessible live stream to all of the preseason games.
