Hawks' CJ McCollum: Productive off bench in loss
McCollum logged 17 points (6-17 FG, 1-8 3Pt, 4-5 FT), six rebounds, eight assists and one block over 32 minutes off the bench during Wednesday's 110-107 loss to the Hornets.
With Dyson Daniels back in action Wednesday, McCollum returned to the second unit and produced a new season high in assists. Through 16 games (two starts) with the Hawks, the 34-year-old guard is averaging 18.7 points, 3.5 assists, 3.1 boards, 2.3 threes and 1.5 combined steals and blocks in 28.4 minutes.

Hawks' CJ McCollum: Headed to bench
McCollum will come off the bench for Wednesday's game in Charlotte, Sam Perley of the Hornets' official site reports.
McCollum received a spot start in Monday's loss to Minnesota with Dyson Daniels (ankle) unavailable, but Daniels is back and starting Wednesday, so McCollum will return to his reserve role. In 13 games off the bench this season, McCollum has posted averages of 17.9 points, 3.2 assists and 2.3 triples per contest.

McCollum produced 38 points (12-25 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 9-11 FT), four steals, two assists and one rebound in 33 minutes during Monday's 138-116 loss to the Timberwolves.
McCollum caught fire offensively, pouring in a game-high 38 points for his best scoring output since Nov. 25 while making his second start with the Hawks. Entering Monday, his production had been nearly identical between stops, as he averaged 17.4 points, 3.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds on 46.4 percent shooting from the field and 35.3 percent from deep in 14 games with Atlanta, compared to 18.8 points, 3.6 assists and 3.5 rebounds on 45.4 percent shooting and 39.3 percent from three in 35 games with Washington prior to the trade.

McCollum tallied 26 points in the win, the most he has scored since arriving in Atlanta as part of the Trae Young (knee) deal. Despite coming off the bench for his new team, McCollum has been a relatively consistent source of points and threes. McCollum made his Hawks debut Sunday after being acquired Friday in the deal that sent Trae Young to the Wizards. After he had started in each of his 35 appearances with Washington while averaging 30.9 minutes per contest, McCollum was deployed on the second unit Sunday and predictably saw a reduction in his playing time. The 34-year-old still looks to be worthy of holding in most leagues for the time being, but if he ends up sticking in a 20-to-25-minute bench role with the Hawks on a more permanent basis, fantasy managers in shallower formats may be best served moving on from him.
