Top Brandon Clarke News

  • Grizzlies' Brandon Clarke: Out another 4-to-6 weeks

The Grizzlies announced Wednesday that Clarke is progressing well in his recovery from a Grade 2 right calf strain and is expected to return to action in 4-to-6 weeks.

Clarke suffered the injury Dec. 20 and has already missed the Grizzlies' last 11 games. Based on the team's latest update, Clarke's absence looks set to extend through the All-Star break, but he could be ready to play shortly after the Grizzlies begin their second-half schedule. Before going down with the calf injury, Clarke had made just two appearances all season for the Grizzlies, as his 2025-26 campaign got off to a delayed start after he required a Sept. 26 procedure to address right knee synovitis.

  • Grizzlies' Brandon Clarke: Out at least three weeks

The Grizzlies announced Monday that Clarke (calf) has sustained a Grade 2 right calf strain and will be reevaluated in about three weeks.

Clarke missed the first 26 games of the season recovering from a knee injury and appeared in only one full game before straining his calf just four minutes into his second contest. Santi Aldama and Jock Landale will likely see increased roles as a result.

  • Grizzlies' Brandon Clarke: Ruled out for Monday

Clarke (calf) will not play Monday against the Thunder.

Clarke left Saturday's game against the Wizards after four minutes and was unable to return. The Grizzlies went ahead and ruled him out for the first leg of this back-to-back set, and it remains to be seen if he'll be ready in time for Tuesday's action against the Jazz.

  • Grizzlies' Brandon Clarke: Early exit Saturday

Clarke (calf) did not return to Saturday's game against the Wizards. He generated two points (1-2 FG), three rebounds and a steal across four minutes before exiting.

Clarke suffered a calf injury during the first quarter of Saturday's contest and was deemed doubtful to return. The 29-year-old never retook the floor after departing. Memphis has a back-to-back set that begins Monday against Oklahoma City.

  • Grizzlies' Brandon Clarke: Doubtful to return

Clarke is doubtful to return to Saturday's game against the Wizards due to right calf soreness.

Clarke picked up the calf injury in the first quarter of Saturday's contest, and he's unlikely to return. It was just his second game of the campaign after being sidelined while rehabbing from offseason knee surgery. While he's sidelined, Santi Aldama and Jock Landale could see additional minutes.

  • Grizzlies' Brandon Clarke: Limited workload in debut

Clarke (knee) recorded six points (2-7 FG, 2-4 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one steal across 17 minutes during Wednesday's 116-110 victory over the Timberwolves.

Though he drew a start in his season debut after completing his recovery from a late September right knee procedure, Clarke was eased into action despite the absences of Ja Morant (ankle), Zach Edey (ankle) and other key rotation players for the Grizzlies. Clarke has had trouble staying on the court ever since being a first-round pick in 2019, so the team will likely be cautious with the 29-year-old big man's workload as he gets his legs back under him. The Grizzlies went with a supersized starting lineup without a true point guard Wednesday, but Clarke could move to the bench Saturday against the Wizards if Morant is cleared to return.

  • Grizzlies' Brandon Clarke: Starting Wednesday

Clarke is in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Timberwolves.

With Ja Morant (ankle) out, Clarke will be thrust into the starting lineup in his first game of the season, and it'll be interesting to see what his minutes look like Wednesday night. Joining him in the first unit will be Cedric Coward, Jaylen Wells, Santi Aldama and Jaren Jackson.

  • Grizzlies' Brandon Clarke: Making season debut

Clarke (knee) will play in Wednesday's game against Minnesota.

Clarke has been recovering from offseason knee surgery and has finally received clearance to make his season debut. With Zach Edey (ankle) sidelined for multiple weeks, Clarke has the opportunity to claim a significant role off the bench. Given the lengthy layoff, the Grizzlies could look to ease Clarke into action.

  • Grizzlies' Brandon Clarke: Upgraded to questionable

Clarke (knee) is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves.

After spending nearly two months in recovery mode due to offseason right knee surgery, Clarke appears to be on the cusp of making his season debut. The Grizzlies figure to have heavy restrictions in place for the 2019 first-rounder once he's cleared to hit the court, though. With Zach Edey (ankle) on the shelf, Clarke does have the opportunity to seize a sizable role in the Memphis frontcourt when he's eventually back up to speed.

  • Grizzlies' Brandon Clarke: Doubtful for Monday

Clarke (knee) is doubtful for Monday's game against the Clippers, Drew Hill of The Daily Memphian reports.

While it's unlikely that Clarke will play, simply receiving the doubtful tag can be considered a sign of progress. Clarke recently got in a practice with Memphis' G League affiliate, which is a big step in his rehab from knee surgery.

  • Grizzlies' Brandon Clarke: Assigned to G League

Clarke (knee) will practice with the G League's Memphis Hustle on Friday and will be recalled to the NBA directly following the session.

Clarke, who underwent a procedure to address knee synovitis Sep. 26, is seemingly making good progress based on this update. Based on previous reporting, a late-December return has been on the table for Clarke, making his status worth monitoring closely since the Grizzlies will be without Zach Edey (ankle) for multiple weeks.

  • Grizzlies' Brandon Clarke: Out another 6-9 weeks

The Grizzlies announced Tuesday that Clarke (knee) is progressing well, but he will be sidelined for another six-to-nine weeks.

Clarke underwent a procedure to address knee synovitis back on Sep. 26, but a timetable was never provided at the time. The Grizzlies have provided more clarity this time around, and based on this updated timetable, the earliest possible return date would be Dec. 26 against the Bucks. Given his injury history, Clarke will likely face heavy restrictions once he does get the green light to return.
