  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Diagnosed with thumb fracture

The Spurs announced Tuesday that Sochan suffered a fracture in the proximal phalanx of his left thumb during Monday's game against the Clippers. Sochan is scheduled to undergo surgery this week, and the team will provide updates as appropriate, Marc J. Spears of ESPN.com reports. While the Spurs have yet to give an official return timetable for Sochan, fantasy managers can expect him to be sidelined for a significant period. The 21-year-old forward was in the midst of a breakout campaign, averaging 15.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals on 51.2 percent shooting from the field in 29.3 minutes across seven appearances before suffering his injury. Until Sochan is able to return, Keldon Johnson, Stephon Castle and Julian Champagnie are all candidates to receive increased playing time.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Won't return vs. Clippers on Monday

Sochan (thumb) will not return during Monday's game against the Clippers, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports. Sochan totaled four points (2-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist and one steal across 12 minutes before leaving due to a thumb injury. With the 21-year-old forward out, Zach Collins and Keldon Johnson are candidates for an increased role the rest of the way.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Strong start continues

Sochan supplied 22 points (9-19 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-5 FT), nine rebounds, four assists and one block over 34 minutes during Monday's 106-101 loss to Houston. Sochan scored at least 17 points for the third straight game to open the season, continuing his impressive start. Now back in his preferred position, power forward, Sochan has been easily the most consistent player on the Spurs' roster. He was typically available late in drafts, and at this point, it appears he could be a great risk vs. reward option.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Strong double-double in win

Sochan totaled 17 points (8-14 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 12 rebounds, three assists and two steals across 37 minutes during Saturday's 109-106 victory over the Rockets. Sochan was efficient from the floor and made his presence felt on the glass, constantly winning rebounding battles against the likes of Jabari Smith and Alperen Sengun en route to his first double-double of the season. Sochan has surpassed the 15-point mark in his first two appearances of 2024-25 and looks comfortable operating as the Spurs' second offensive option behind Victor Wembanyama in the absence of Devin Vassell (foot). That new-found role on offense should increase Sochan's fantasy upside in the short term.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Resting against Houston

Sochan will sit out Thursday's preseason game against the Rockets, Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News reports. Sochan will sit out San Antonio's preseason finale for rest purposes alongside Victor Wembanyama, Chris Paul and Keldon Johnson. All of these players should be available for the team's regular-season opener against the Mavericks on Oct. 24.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Double-double against Miami

Sochan scored 18 points (9-13 FG) while adding 11 rebounds, an assist and a steal in 28 minutes during Tuesday's 120-117 preseason loss to the Heat. Getting the start at power forward, Sochan put together his best performance of the preseason while leading the Spurs in scoring. It's still not clear how Gregg Popovich plans to deploy the third-year player, but if he can hang onto a starting spot in the frontcourt next to Victor Wembanyama, a career-best campaign should follow.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Not injured in car crash

Sochan was not injured after crashing his car into a guardrail in San Antonio on Aug. 24, James Herbert of CBS Sports reports. Sochan told police he "lost control of his vehicle" and hit a guardrail on the ramp connecting two highways. His car was the only one involved in the crash, and while there was extensive damage to his Porsche, Sochan refused EMS services and walked away unharmed. After a promising rookie campaign, Sochan was shifted to point guard last year, but that experiment failed miserably. After moving back to forward, Sochan found his footing again and is expected to play a key role in the Spurs' frontcourt next to Victor Wembanyama in 2024-25.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Plays for Polish national team

Sochan (ankle) averaged 18.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.5 steals, 1.0 three-pointers and 1.0 blocks in 29.0 minutes per game over his two appearances for the Polish national team this month in Olympic qualifying tournament games. Sochan saw extended playing time in losses to The Bahamas and Finland in group play. Though Poland has now been eliminated from qualifying for a spot in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, the 21-year-old Sochan looks like he'll head into training camp at full health for the Spurs after missing the club's final eight games of the 2023-24 season due to a left ankle impingement.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Could be done for season

Sochan could miss the rest of the season due to the left ankle impingement he suffered in Friday's 130-126 loss to the Knicks, Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports. "Whatever the doctors tell me when they all look at the pictures is when I will know something," Popovich said of Sochan's timeline for a return. "I'm not going to guess." Sochan had played in each of the Spurs' first 74 games of the season before sitting out Sunday's 117-113 loss to the Warriors. With his goal of playing in all 82 games now dashed, Sochan may be inclined to proceed cautiously with his recovery from the ankle injury over the final two weeks of the season, especially since he plans to play for the Polish national team at the 2024 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament in early July. For their part, the Spurs seem inclined to take a game-by-game approach with Sochan's status, but the second-year forward should at least be viewed as doubtful to play in San Antonio's next contest Tuesday in Denver.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Won't face Golden State

Sochan (ankle) has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Warriors, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports. Sochan exited Friday's win over the Knicks due to left ankle impingement, and since the Spurs don't have anything to play for in the final two weeks of the regular season, the coaching staff won't put him at risk. His next chance to play will come against the Nuggets on Tuesday.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Pounds glass, hits dagger

Sochan chipped in 26 points (10-19 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 5-5 FT), 18 rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal over 36 minutes during Monday's 104-102 win over the Suns. Sochan's lone three-point make of the night was clutch, ultimately representing the final bucket of the game and earning San Antonio a victory. Sochan capitalized on Jusuf Nurkic (ankle) exiting early, racking up 16 defensive rebounds as Phoenix struggled to control the glass. Sochan's offensive production came from pushing in transition and knocking down his shallow mid-range jumpers and floaters, while the 77.5 percent free-throw shooter was perfect at the line Monday.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Flirts with triple-double

Sochan registered nine points (4-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt), seven rebounds, seven assists, two blocks and one steal in 28 minutes during Monday's 112-102 loss to the Warriors. Sochan continues to grow as a playmaker, as Monday marked his fifth career game with at least seven assists. He's fared well overall in five March contests, averaging 13.0 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.2 blocks and 0.8 three-pointers in 31.2 minutes.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Double-doubles in loss

Sochan provided 15 points (7-16 FG, 1-6 3Pt), 13 rebounds, five assists and two steals in 34 minutes during Friday's 123-118 loss to the Lakers. Sochan recorded his fourth double-double of the season during Friday's loss to the Lakers. However, Sochan's shooting slump continued, as he is shooting 14.3 percent on 3.1 three-point attempts per contest across nine games in February. The 20-year-old forward is averaging 10.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 steals in 30.1 minutes over that span.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Cruises to 16 in win

Sochan racked up 16 points (7-12 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, two blocks and one steal in 30 minutes during Monday's 122-99 victory over the Raptors. Sochan scored effectively inside, although he is still cemented in a 2-for-25 shooting slump from beyond the arc across his last nine contests. The second-year forward remains a project offensively, which makes his ability to put forth quality production in the meantime impressive. That being said, the Spurs have more merit to be patient than fantasy managers if Sochan isn't up to par with the options on the waiver wire.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Season-best outing in victory

Sochan chipped in 31 points (12-20 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 14 rebounds, two assists and two steals in 32 minutes during Friday's 116-100 victory over Portland. Sochan led all Spurs players in scoring and threes made while ending as one of three players with 10 or more rebounds in a 30-point double-double performance. Sochan, who also tallied a pair of assists and steals, set a season high in rebounds, and he has hauled in 10 or more boards in two games this season. He has tallied 30 or more points in two games, with the other being a season-high 33 points recorded Nov. 30.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Stuffs stat sheet Saturday

Sochan ended Saturday's 131-127 victory over Washington with 23 points (8-11 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 6-6 FT), four rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal in 28 minutes. Sochan had one of his best outings of the season Saturday, and aside from making clutch free throws down the stretch, he was impressive with his contributions in peripheral categories. Sochan has scored in double digits in eight of his 10 appearances in January, hitting the 20-point mark in two of his last four. His fantasy upside will only grow if he finds a way to score at this rate consistently, as his contributions in other categories make him a player with a solid floor in category-based leagues.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: All-around effort in loss

Sochan posted 11 points (5-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 0-1 FT), eight rebounds, eight assists, one block and one steal in 34 minutes during Friday's 124-120 loss to the Hornets. Sochan was a couple of rebounds and assists away from registering his first triple-double of his young career. The second-year forward out of Baylor is averaging 12.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.1 steals over 30.3 minutes per game in January.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Decent all-around effort Friday

Sochan ended Friday's 135-99 victory over Charlotte with 13 points (5-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-3 FT), six rebounds, four assists, one block and two steals in 26 minutes. Sochan is no longer running the show at point guard for the Spurs, but he continues to deliver decent all-around numbers from his power-forward role thanks to his ability to stretch out the floor and play on the perimeter. He's been putting up decent numbers of late, averaging 12.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 0.8 steals per game over his last five outings.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Likely to suit up against Cleveland

Sochan is listed as probable for Sunday's game versus the Cavaliers despite left quadriceps soreness. Sochan hasn't missed a game this season and isn't expected to do so Sunday despite dealing with a quadriceps injury. The second-year forward is averaging 11.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 29.4 minutes across his last 10 appearances.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Mixed results in loss

Sochan totaled nine points (3-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals over 33 minutes during Thursday's 125-121 loss to the Bucks. Sochan appeared to be turning a corner offensively to end December, averaging 19.3 points on 61.1 percent shooting across a three-game stretch. However, since then, he's averaged just 8.0 points on 35.5 percent shooting over the last four games. Sochan can contribute in multiple ways, giving him fantasy value, but his offensive struggles this season have left managers wanting more. Sochan is just inside the top 150 in eight-category leagues, so unless there's a clear upgrade, he likely needs to remain rostered in standard leagues.
