  • Magic's Mac McClung: Converted to two-way deal

The Magic signed McClung to a two-way contract Saturday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

McClung was previously on a training camp contract, which has now been converted to a two-way deal. The back-to-back Slam Dunk Contest champion has primarily played in the G League during his time in the league, but he will now look to earn a rotational role as a depth guard in Orlando. He averaged 12.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 triples across 20.5 minutes in two games with the 76ers last season.

  • Magic's Mac McClung: Agrees to deal with Orlando

McClung agreed to an Exhibit 10 deal with the Magic on Wednesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

McClung spent camp with Orlando last year on a partially guaranteed deal, but he was let go just before the start of the regular season. He played for the G League's Osceola Magic during the 2023-24 campaign and averaged 25.2 points, 5.9 assists and 4.5 rebounds in 35.6 minutes per game and was named the G League MVP. He'll have another chance to compete for a roster spot this fall.

  • Mac McClung: Takes home another dunk title

McClung took home the 2024 AT&T Slam Dunk Contest title Saturday, defeating the Celtics' Jaylen Brown in the final round.

McClung became the fifth back-to-back winner in the dunk contest's 42-year history, joining Michael Jordan (1987 and 1988), Jason Richardson (2002 and 2003), Nate Robinson (2009 and 2010) and Zach LaVine (2015 and 2016). Of the four competitors in Saturday's contest, McClung delivered the only 50-point dunk of the night, which came when he jumped over 7-foot-1 NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal, who hoisted a ball above his head that McClung grabbed in midair and slammed home for a reverse dunk. McClung, who has spent the entire season in the G League with the Osceola Magic, implied after Saturday's victory that he'll think about competing again in 2025 with the hope of becoming the first player to win the contest in three consecutive years.

  • Mac McClung: Sent to waivers

McClung was waived by the Magic on Saturday, Philip Rossman-Reich of OrlandoMagicDaily.com reports.

McClung will likely end up with Orlando's G League affiliate, the Osceola Magic, following Saturday's move. He was unable to make his case to remain on the NBA roster to begin the 2023-24 campaign after scoring only seven points and adding 15 boards and five assists over three preseason matchups.

  • Magic's Mac McClung: Agrees to deal with Orlando

McClung and the Magic agreed to a partially guaranteed deal Tuesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

The 2023 NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion went undrafted out of Texas Tech in 2021 and has appeared in just four NBA contests over the last two years. However, the 6-foot-2 guard has been a stellar contributor at the G League level, averaging 20.6 points, 6.1 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.1 steals while playing for three different affiliates -- Delaware Blue Coats (31 games), South Bay Lakers (26) and Windy City Bulls (one) -- over the last two years. In the likely event that McClung doesn't make Orlando's Opening Night roster, the Magic will retain his G League rights for the 2023-24 campaign.
