Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but this is likely an Exhibit 10 contract to secure Johnson's G League rights. Johnson played for the Hustle in 2023-24, averaging 17.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists.

Johnson (illness) logged nine points (4-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt) and four rebounds across 15 minutes during the 905's 121-119 win over Grand Rapids on Sunday.
Fortunately for Johnson, he did not have to sit out multiple times because of his recent illness. But like they were against Grand Rapids, Jeff Dowtin and Ron Harper are expected to remain the 905's starting backcourt, leaving Johnson to create value for himself as a substitute.

Johnson logged 24 points (9-14 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, three assists and one steal across 34 minutes during the 905's 104-87 win Saturday at Motor City.
Johnson was the 905's best scorer as they evened their 2023 record back to .500. Since the 2023 All-Star break's conclusion, he has averaged 15.6 points across his three G League games.

Johnson (groin) logged 14 points (6-13 FG, 2-6 3Pt), four rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks across 30 minutes during the 905's 114-110 loss to Windy City on Wednesday.
Fortunately for Johnson, the All-Star break helped prevent him from logging multiple absences because of his previous groin injury. Dalano Banton was assigned to the 905 before Wednesday, but Johnson is expected to continue being part of their starting lineup, at least until Jeff Dowtin is ready to play again after sitting out against Windy City.

A groin strain prevented Johnson from participating in the 905's latest game. Jeff Dowtin and a returning Sterling Brown are expected to continue starting in the backcourt if Johnson is unavailable after the All-Star break.

Sterling Brown did not play because of a personal issue, so Johnson joined the 905's starting lineup Wednesday. He could hang onto an increased role if Brown misses any additional time.

Johnson logged 22 points (8-11 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 2-3 FT), eight assists, five rebounds and one steal across 30 minutes during the 905's 135-126 win Saturday at Wisconsin.
The 905 decided to switch their lineup Saturday, with backup Johnson and starter Ron Harper changing spots. Both benefited from the changes. Each guard scored 22 points without shooting poorly, and there is a chance Johnson's new role could stick.

Johnson hasn't been a particularly big scorer for 905 this season, averaging 5.9 points per contest, but his three field-goal attempts fell well below his average of 7.1 per contest on the year. He should see a bit more action and take more shots moving forward, assuming he can remain healthy.

Johnson (illness) compiled three points (1-5 FG, 1-3 3Pt), two rebounds, an assist and a block over 13 minutes Monday versus Long Island.
Johnson is shooting just 33.3 percent from the field and 22.2 percent from beyond the arc over his first four appearances, but he does add in a little bit in the other categories to bolster his stat lines. Either way, his role appears to be smaller at 15.0 minutes per game than the 32.1 he saw in his nine appearances with Raptors 905 last season.

Given the reason for Johnson's absence, it doesn't seem like he will be sidelined for too long. He's averaged 6.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists over 15.5 minutes per game in his three appearances with the team this season.

Johnson missed the previous game while rehabbing an injury, but he wasn't out long. Unfortunately, he struggled with his shot in the contest, which has been the case all season, shooting just 16.7 percent from beyond the arc and 36.4 percent from the field.

David Johnson: Joins G League's 905
The G League's Raptors 905 announced Monday that Johnson has been included on the club's training camp roster.
Johnson, a 2021 second-round draft pick, spent his entire rookie campaign in the Raptors organization as a two-way player. He made only two appearances at the NBA level in 2021-22 and wasn't retained in free agency this offseason, though Toronto elected to sign and waive him Oct. 15 in order to retain his G League rights, per Aaron Rose of SI.com. For the second year in a row, Johnson is poised to see most of his playing time in the G League, though he no longer possesses a spot on the NBA roster.

Johnson registered 10 points (4-10 FG, 2-8 3Pt), four rebounds, three assists and two steals across 31 minutes in Sunday's 143-139 loss to the Delaware Blue Coats in the Eastern Conference Final.
Johnson and 905's season came to an end in a tight defeat to the Blue Coats on Sunday. The rookie out of Louisville averaged 11.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game, shooting 40.8 percent from the field, 32.4 percent from deep and 81.3 percent from the free-throw line.

Johnson recorded 14 points (6-9 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 0-1 FT), eight rebounds, two assists and a block across 26 minutes in Thursday's 114-99 loss to the Long Island Nets.
Johnson shot efficiently and almost had a double-double against Long Island on Thursday. He's averaging 11.3 points in 23.7 minutes per game in the G League this season.
