Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Ruled out Saturday
Pippen (toe) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Timberwolves.
Pippen has yet to make his season debut while recovering from left big toe surgery he underwent in October and will remain sidelined Saturday. However, the 25-year-old guard recently joined the Grizzlies' G League affiliate for practice and appears to be nearing a return to action. His next chance to play will come Monday against Minnesota, though he should be considered doubtful for that one until Memphis offers an update on his status.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Recalled to NBA
The Grizzlies recalled Pippen (toe) from the G League's Memphis Hustle on Wednesday.
Pippen was able to practice with the Hustle prior to being recalled, which puts him on track to make his season debut within the coming days. Memphis has an upcoming back-to-back set this weekend, playing Friday in New Orleans before heading home to face Minnesota on Saturday. Pippen can be considered doubtful for those contests until the Grizzlies release an injury report Thursday afternoon.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Practicing in G League
Pippen (toe) is practicing with the G League's Memphis Hustle on Wednesday.
Pippen is on a brief assignment to get some extra reps during his recovery from toe surgery, and he'll be recalled following Wednesday's session. The guard has still not made his season debut, but Pippen is tracking toward doing so at some point in the near future and should be ready to go in early February if all goes well.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Out at least four more weeks
The Grizzlies announced Wednesday that Pippen is progressing well in his recovery from left big toe surgery and is expected to be available for game action in 4-to-6 weeks.
Pippen is still waiting to make his 2025-26 debut after he required a sesamoidectomy Oct. 21 to reduce discomfort in the injured toe. The 25-year-old guard had been scheduled to be re-evaluated three months following the procedure, and Pippen now looks like he'll need at least another month to complete his rehab before potentially advancing to on-court work. As a result of the latest update, Pippen looks safe to rule out through the All-Star break, and with Ty Jerome (calf) and Ja Morant (calf) also sidelined, the Grizzlies will likely continue to rely on Cam Spencer as their primary point guard in the meantime.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Likely out three months
Pippen is slated to undergo a procedure to address a left big toe injury and will be re-evaluated in 12 weeks, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
After appearing in a career-high 79 games in 2024-25 while averaging 9.9 points, 4.4 assists, 3.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.1 three-pointers in 21.3 minutes, Pippen had been projected to handle a prominent role during the upcoming season as one of Memphis' first guards off the bench. However, with his preseason toe injury now set to keep him out around three months, the Grizzlies may have to turn to free-agent pickup Ty Jerome to handle more of an on-ball role when starting point guard Ja Morant is off the court. Two-way player Javon Small could also be a candidate to slide into the rotation right off the bat to begin his rookie season.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Won't play Friday
Pippen (toe) has been ruled out for Friday's preseason finale with Miami, Michael Wallace of the Grizzlies' official site reports.
Pippen will wind up missing Memphis' final four preseason games due to the toe issue, and for now, he should be considered questionable for the Opening Night clash against the Pelicans on Wednesday. Expect more minutes for Ty Jerome with Pippen on the bench.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Doesn't play Wednesday
Pippen (toe) didn't play during Wednesday's preseason game against the Hornets.
Pippen hasn't played in the preseason since the loss to the Pistons on Oct. 6. He's been dealing with a toe issue, and the coaching staff appears to be taking a cautious approach moving forward. The next chance for the young guard to return will be the preseason finale against the Heat on Friday.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Dealing with toe soreness
Pippen is out for Saturday's preseason game against the Hawks due to toe soreness, Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.
Pippen will sit out another preseason game due to toe soreness, though it's unclear if the injury will be severe enough to keep him sidelined for more time. The Grizzlies have two more preseason games after Saturday's contest against the Hawks, followed by their regular-season opener against the Pelicans on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Sits out Wednesday
Pippen didn't play in Wednesday's preseason loss to the Celtics.
It appears that Pippen was simply a healthy scratch in this exhibition tilt. With Ja Morant (ankle) week-to-week, the Grizzlies are hoping that Pippen and Ty Jerome will help pick up the slack at point guard to begin the season. It's worth noting that Pippen averaged 14.2 points, 5.7 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.7 steals in 26.8 minutes per game over 21 regular-season appearances as a starter in 2024-25.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Strong preseason performance
Pippen managed 13 points (3-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 6-7 FT), three assists, two rebounds and one steal in 20 minutes during Monday's 128-112 preseason loss to Detroit.
Pippen picked up where he left off last season, playing a meaningful role despite coming off the bench. With Ja Morant (ankle) already sidelined, Pippen will likely battle newly acquired Ty Jerome for the starting point guard spot once the regular season starts. Pippen was somewhat of a revelation last season, stepping into a sizeable role as the Grizzlies once again dealt with multiple injuries to key players. Although his minutes are far from a guarantee, look for Pippen to play a relatively consistent role when all is said and done.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Career-best effort in Game 4 loss
Pippen provided 30 points (9-21 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 10-10 FT), 11 rebounds and four assists in 37 minutes before fouling out of Saturday's 117-115 loss to the Thunder in Game 4 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
With Ja Morant (hip) sidelined, the Grizzlies had little chance of avoiding a sweep, but Pippen very nearly kept his team alive with a career-best scoring effort and his first career playoff double-double. The third-year guard put together back-to-back huge efforts to close out Memphis' campaign, as he makes a case to be more than just a rotational option in 2025-26.
