The 49ers have a hole to fill opposite Anquan Boldin with Michael Crabtree expected to miss much of the regular season but no one's stepped up thus far in camp. Kyle Williams (hamstring) and Ricardo Lockette (hip) both are sidelined and Marlon Moore, Kassim Osgood and Quinton Patton (jammed finger) appear gimpy as well according to Comcast Sportsnet.
Second-year receiver and former first-round pick A.J. Jenkins hasn't ascended, per the report. He didn't have any receptions in team drills on Sunday and remains undistinguished.
If there's been a bright spot, it's been Chad Hall. Per the report, he's made the biggest impact of all the receivers and has even caught the eye of teammate Vernon Davis.
"I really like Chad," Davis said. "He's quick, he's fast, (and) he's doing everything that the coaches are asking him to do and he comes to work."
