The mile-high anticipation for Peyton Manning's first training-camp practice as a Bronco led to a team-record attendance for a session at its facility. The announced crowd was 4,372, shattering a previous record of 3,103 set on Aug. 1, 2010. The crowd began building early. Approximately 1,000 fans were already in line to enter when the gates opened an hour before practice.
Who's here: Almost everyone on the roster. LT Ryan Clady opted not to hold out while negotiating a contract extension and was at his usual place on the first team; Clady's contract expires after this year. Manning is at full strength and will not be on a pitch count, coach John Fox said. DE Elvis Dumervil was at his usual place on the first team but declined to comment on his recent arrest in Miami, Fla. "Once the investigation's completed, the truth will come out," he said. LB D.J. Williams, who faces a six-game suspension because of a PED violation, was at practice but didn't take part in any team drills, leaving the first-team WLB chores to Wesley Woodyard. Rookie Danny Trevathan backed up Woodyard. Williams spent part of the team period of the Broncos' first practice running sprints on an adjacent field.
Who's not: Two undrafted rookies were released Wednesday after suffering injuries and failing their physicals: WR Eric Page (torn ACL) and CB Coryell Judie (disc). WR Brandon Stokley was the only player on the roster not to practice Thursday. He sat out because of the flu. Other players that were in uniform but didn't take part in team drills included TE Julius Thomas (ankle), RB Knowshon Moreno (knee), RG Chris Kuper (leg), DT Justin Bannan (calf) and DE Jamie Blatnick (ankle). With Thomas, Moreno and Kuper, the Broncos are taking it easy while they complete their recovery from surgeries. Kuper was replaced on the first team by Manuel Ramirez, who also filled in for him at right guard throughout the offseason.
