First place in the AFC West is on the line Sunday in Denver, as the Broncos host Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

We've seen a back-and-forth affair thus far, with the Chiefs ahead 17-13 at the half. The Chiefs scored the first two touchdowns of the game, as Rashee Rice found pay dirt in his first game back from a hamstring injury, then rookie running back Emmett Johnson beat the Broncos' blitz for a 73-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter. It was actually the longest touchdown reception by any rookie since 2017, per CBS Sports Research.

Denver hung around with two field goals before Bo Nix finally led a 12-play, 69-yard touchdown capped by 1-yard pass to Jaylen Waddle on fourth-and-goal. The Chiefs responded with a 45-yard field goal at the end of the second quarter to acquire a four-point halftime lead.

Who will lead the AFC West at the end of the day? Follow along in the live blog below as we break down this matchup as it happens.

Broncos finally find the end zone!

The Broncos have their first touchdown of the day, as Bo Nix hit Jaylen Waddle for a 1-yard TD on fourth-and-goal to cap a 12-play, 69-yard possession.

Mahomes and Co. get the ball back with 1:15 remaining in the second quarter and just one timeout.

EMMETT JOHNSON 70-YARD TD

MASSIVE coverage breakdown from the Broncos. On a third-and-10, Mahomes hit rookie running back Emmett Johnson out of the backfield for a 73-yard TD!

Embarrassing tackling effort from Taylor Rapp.

Bo Nix massive play

There are a lot of Bo Nix h8ers out there, but he's shown the ability to make plays.

Broncos add FG

It's early on, but I would say the Broncos offense looks better right now. They've picked up 82 yards compared to the Chiefs' 71 yards.

Wil Lutz caps a nine-play, 45-yard drive with a 45-yard field goal. He could end up being the MVP of this game.

Broncos and Chiefs trade three-and-outs

The scoring has slowed down in Denver. Both offenses went three-and-out on their last two possessions. I think this is more of the game we are going to see today.

Patrick Mahomes' first TD pass since Oct. 4!

The Chiefs just marched 69 yards on seven plays, and Patrick Mahomes threw his first touchdown in three games with an 11-yard strike to Rashee Rice.

If you're a receiver and find yourself matched up with linebacker Alex Singleton, you better call for the ball.

Broncos convert on FG

That's a solid opening drive from Denver. Bo Nix took the offense 62 yards down the field on eight plays, and Wil Lutz is good from 39 yards out. A 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty helped the Broncos out, as did an 18-yard DPI, but keep an eye on Jonah Coleman. He caught two passes for 11 yards on that possession. He and fullback Adam Prentice were the only players who caught passes from Bo Nix.

Chiefs go three-and-out on first possession

Nothing going for Kansas City on its first possession. Kenneth Walker picked up 4 yards on two carries, then Patrick Mahomes had to bail on a bad Creed Humphrey snap on third down.
