It might have been slightly surprising before training camp that WR Carlton Mitchell would be listed among the first Browns cuts. But it was a real yawner when announced on Sunday.
His talent has warranted intrigue, but his production never did. He caught just three passes for the Browns in the regular season. He missed nearly the entire camp with an undisclosed leg injury. The emergence of young receivers such as Josh Gordon, Travis Benjamin and Jordan Norwood spelled the end of his brief time in Cleveland.
Notable cuts: Expect a few surprises next time around, but there were none on Sunday.
Complete cut list: OL Jake Anderson (free agent, undrafted); OL Matt Cleveland (free agent, undrafted); DB Emmanuel Davis (free agent, undrafted); LB JoJo Dickson (free agent, undrafted); P Spencer Lanning (free agent, undrafted); WR Carlton Mitchell (3rd year, sixth round in 2010 draft, South Florida); WR Bert Reed (free agent, undrafted); WR Jermaine Saffold (free agent, undrafted); WR Owen Spencer (free agent, undrafted).
