Odell Beckham isn't the only roster news happening right now with the Cleveland Browns. There's another loss that might be more concerning for the team's offense, and especially as quarterback Baker Mayfield does his best to battle through a torn labrum and more. Jack Conklin, the team's starting right tackle, has officially been moved to injured reserve -- the team announced Saturday -- sidelining him for a minimum of three games with a dislocated elbow.
It's quite a blow for the offensive front, considering Conklin is a two-time All-Pro at his position, having earned his second nod last year. He started in 15 games last season after joining the Browns in 2020 and six games in 2021, having missed Week 6 and Week 7 against the Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos, respectively, with a knee injury. It is expected the Browns will start Blake Hance at right tackle in the absence of Conklin, who will be eligible to return Nov. 28 against the Baltimore Ravens.
Hance is a former undrafted free agent signed by the Buffalo Bills in 2019, going on to spend stints on the practice squads of several clubs before joining the Browns alongside Conklin last season. With only three NFL starts under his belt, Hance will face a tall task in replacing Conklin, but the Browns hope he can when also considering the aforementioned injuries on Mayfield.
The Browns also activated center Nick Harris and fullback Andy Janovich from IR Saturday, as well as elevating defensive tackle Sheldon Day and tight end Miller Forristall to the active roster to help combat the Bengals.
