The Chiefs released their depth chart on Tuesday without any real surprises in the starting positions other than the presence of Dwayne Bowe at the bottom.

Bowe, of course, has still not arrived to training camp and is holding out from signing his one-year tender. Jon Baldwin and Steve Breaston are listed as starters.

Coach Romeo Crennel is still evaluating backups.

"I didn't want to put a depth chart out, but they told me I had to," Crennel said, via the Kansas City Star. "I don't think you can write a whole lot into the depth chart because we are still evaluating and looking at players. What the depth chart is this week, chances are it will be different next week. You can't look at everybody at the same time, so you have to have an order that you look at them, and that's the order it came out for this week."

Three positions to take note of on the depth chart: nose tackle, tight end and running back.

Anthony Toribio, who began training camp with the first team at nose tackle, is listed as the starter in front of first-round pick Dontari Poe. Toribio was on Kansas City's practice squad last year and Crennel has made it a point that rookies have to earn their spots.

At tight end, Kevin Boss is listed in front of Tony Moeaki, who is returning from a torn ACL. Who starts might not be too important, as both will play different roles. Boss will be looked upon to be more of a blocking tight end, and Moeaki will be the top option on passing downs. The Chiefs also have some formations with both on the field. 

Jamaal Charles, also returning from an ACL tear, is listed in front of Peyton Hillis at running back. Even during Charles' breakout season in 2010 when he ran for 1,467 yards, he started the year at No. 2 on the depth chart behind Thomas Jones.

Second-year cornerback Jalil Brown is listed as injured Brandon Flowers' backup at left cornerback. Brown worked in place of Stanford Routt at the right corner spot on Tuesday to give Jacques Reeves reps at left corner. Reeves is the third corner on the depth chart on the left side behind Brown.

"The depth chart still has Routt there," Crennel said. "I had to put one out, and I put one out with the guys I wanted to look at first, I put those guys first, the guys I wanted to look at second, and so on down the line until we have a depth-chart change. When there’s a depth-chart change, I will pass it out, and you’ll see what it is."

The highest-profile battle for a backup spot is at quarterback, where Brady Quinn is listed ahead of second-year QB Ricky Stanzi, who threw an interception in Tuesday's joint practice with the Arizona Cardinals.

"He's the one I want to look at second," Crennel said of Quinn.
