The Dolphins reached the roster limit of 53 on Friday by releasing a handful of players. Miami also created an extra roster spot when it dealt OL Ryan Cook to Dallas for a seventh-round draft pick.
Notable cuts: LB Jamaal Westerman (4th year, undrafted, Rutgers) -- The veteran signed a free agent deal with the Dolphins this offseason after recording 32 tackles, 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble for the Jets last year. However, the Dolphins switching from a 3-4 to a 4-3 base forced him to move to DE, a position he was never comfortable at during the preseason.
