Veteran WR Wayne ready for action
WR Reggie Wayne arrived to camp in a Humvee outfitted and wearing army fatigues. Wayne was sure to explain that his antics were more than a mere stunt. “I don't want people to look at it as a joke,” Wayne said, according to the Fort Wayne (In.) News-Sentinel. “I fully support our military and I'm taking a page out of their book. I want our team to take a page out of their book. These guys, they're what you call true heroes. So I support that." Wayne will need to be heroic in order for the Colts to be successful this year -- he'll anchor an offense lousy with rookies and career backups.
Luck 'anxious' to open camp
QB Andrew Luck told the Associated Press he was "anxious" to begin camp, although he's already received rave reviews from the coaching staff. He has the best of all three of those guys," offensive coordinator Bruce Arians told the AP. "I don't really know what a photographic mind is, but everyone says he has one, and I have never been around a guy that has learned that fast." Arians worked with all three QBs mentioned.
Irsay invites Dungy back
Owner and CEO Jim Irsay has invited former coach Tony Dungy to camp to meet with new coach Chuck Pagano. “I thought it would be really positive for Chuck to have a chance to hear Tony’s experiences," Irsay told the Indianapolis Star. “Tony made that transition very well of going from an assistant coach to a head coach. Dungy led the Colts to a Super Bowl championship in 2006.
