The Jacksonville Jaguars had a surprising cut-down day on Monday because they made only one cut. Needing to only trim seven spots to get to the mandatory roster count of 75, the team shifted several players to the IR or the PUP in order to keep evaluating as many players as possible.
Notable cuts: FB Brock Bolen (4th year, Louisville) -- The move is notable mainly because he was the only player cut. He was technically placed on the waived/injured list, meaning he would be eligible for the Jaguars' IR should he clear waivers. Though Bolen appeared in 13 games for Jacksonville in 2011, the Jaguars have veteran Greg Jones in front of him.
Complete cut list:
Though Bolen was the only player cut, several roster moves were made to get the roster down to 75. C John Estes (knee), G Drew Nowak (foot), C/G Jason Spitz (ankle), TE Matt Veldman (knee) were all placed on the IR. DE John Chick (knee) and LB Clint Session (concussion) were placed on the PUP. Players placed on the IR are out for the season, while players on the PUP are ineligible to play the first six weeks of the season.
