Prosecutors recommended 60 days in jail for Simpson, but the judge cut him a break.
Simpson was indicted on a drug charge back in January, resulting from Simpson being "detained and questioned" by Kenton County, Kentucky cops after his girlfriend signed for a package that had more than two pounds of marijuana inside.
Police allegedly found more than six pounds of marijuana inside Simpson's home and stated that the delivery was "a controlled delivery to a house that was set up as a distribution network."
Simpson played the 2011 season under the auspices of the drug charge and really made headlines with his eye-popping flip for a touchdown against the Cardinals late in the season.
The former Bengals wide receiver is currently a free agent. However, Simpson did visit with the Rams just 15 days ago.
Provided that he's able to serve the jail time immediately and doesn't receive any additional punishment from the NFL, Simpson's a good bet to land with a wide receiver-needy club fairly quickly.
The biggest problem is that he won't be able to pull nearly the money he might have this offseason if he'd avoided the drug charges.
