Geno Smith, who figures to be in a battle for the Jets starting quarterback job with Ryan Fitzpatrick, said Monday after the team's first voluntary workout that he needed to perform better this season, per Newsday.
"In this league, there isn't room for excuses ... moral victories. I've got to put this team in a position to be successful," he said.
Smith managed 2,525 yards, 13 touchdowns with 13 interceptions a season ago.
