Jets coach Rex Ryan is pleased with how quarterback Geno Smith has handled his demotion from the starting quarterback role, according to Newsday.
"I think he has prepared well. I guess time will tell once he gets an opportunity to play again," Ryan said. "I don't think any player likes it. They shouldn't like it. But, I think he approached it the right way."
Smith was benched in favor of Michael Vick heading into Week 9 against the Chiefs. Vick will be under center again Week 10 against the Steelers, and Ryan gave no indication about when Smith might return to the starting role.
"I am not really looking past this game," Ryan said Monday. "So if that happens, then it happens. Right now we are going with Mike to play against Pittsburgh, and that's as far as I have thought about it."
