The Jets have waived/injured backup safety Antonio Allen, who sustained a torn right Achilles in practice Thursday, per NJ.com. He has been deemed done for the year.
He could return and be placed on injured reserve if he clears waivers.
Allen was a seventh-round pick in 2012 who performed well enough to earn significant playing time, particularly over the past two seasons. A brief stint at cornerback failed, leading to his return to the safety position.
