Unlike the regular season, teams aren't required to list inactive players for preseason games. However, coach Pete Carroll did reveal the names of several players who won't be suiting up against the Titans Saturday.
Wide receivers on the sideline: Carroll announced on Tuesday that newly acquired free-agent wide receiver Terrell Owens won't play against the Titans. Owens is one of four receivers who are not expected to be in uniform. Sidney Rice, who's spent most of training camp wearing a red no-contact jersey, won't be suiting up for the Seahawks either. Although he's been on the field during camp, Rice is still recovering from two offseason shoulder surgeries. Carroll also said that Doug Baldwin (hamstring) and Ricardo Lockette (upper leg) will not be playing either.
Beast Mode likely on the bench: If you're hoping to see some serious Beast Mode Saturday, you may have to settle for Marshawn Lynch on the bench eating Skittles. "Marshawn will not get a bunch of carries in this game. He'll be in street clothes," Carroll said Friday.
Ruud probably out too: On the defensive side of the ball, don't expect to see middle linebacker Barrett Ruud (knee) in action Saturday. Ruud missed Friday's walk-through with a sore knee. Ruud's absence would mean more playing time for rookie Bobby Wagner. Wagner and Ruud are currently duking it out in camp to replace David Hawthorne as the Seahawks starting middle linebacker. Hawthorne signed a free agent contract with the New Orleans Saints in April.
Surgery for Moffitt: The worst news out of camp this week for the Seahawks is that starting right guard John Moffitt will have to undergo surgery on his left elbow. Carroll said Moffitt has a couple of "loose bodies" that need to be removed. Moffitt is expected to miss 2-3 weeks as he recovers. However, he is expected to be back in time for the team's season opener. Deuce Lutui, who signed with the Seahawks in April, will start in place of Moffitt Saturday.
