The Pittsburgh Steelers reached 53 players on their roster Friday, with an asterisk -- subject to change. Rookie OG David DeCastro is expected to go on Injured Reserve on Monday, so that means Trai Essex could well be re-signed hours after being cut. He and punter Jeremy Kapinos were the mild surprises among Friday’s moves. And there remains soft spots elsewhere on the roster. For one, running back Rashard Mendenhall (ACL surgery) won’t be ready to play until late September at the earliest. With six of 10 linebackers healthy after preseason, something’s got to give there, as well.
