Washington. And he sounds happy about it. (US Presswire)

For those wondering when the Redskins finally would re-sign standout linebacker London Fletcher (and if it felt like it was taking forever, you certainly weren’t wrong), London Fletcher himself has the answer for you.

I take that tweet to mean that Fletcher has agreed to a new deal, and when Redskins offseason workouts begin Monday, I assume Fletcher will be with the rest of his teammates.

Which is great news for Washington, considering Fletcher led the league in tackles last year and has started 224-straight games. Even if he’ll turn 37 during the 2012 season, Fletcher clearly is one of the better linebackers in the league (he was No. 1B on our free agent linebackers list).

“I’ve said this from day one: London is a team leader, a great player, and we want him back,” coach Mike Shanahan said at the league meetings last month.

In other Redskins news, the team signed safety Tanard Jackson, recently released by the Buccaneers after failing a team physical. The move makes sense considering Washington defensive backs coach Raheem Morris was Jackson’s head coach in Tampa Bay.
